Subject: Old Blevins From: MarkS Date: 21 Feb 01 - 06:05 PM Would like to add "Old Blevins" by the Austin Lounge Lizards to my set and am having an attack of the lazies. Can anybody post an answer with the chord progressions for this tune? I seem to remember some of our fellow 'Catters have this on their set lists. Thanks MarkS |
Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Old Blevins From: Midchuck Date: 21 Feb 01 - 06:44 PM Lyrics that follow are from the "official" LLL website; chords are what I figured out for myself, and may or may not be right but they work for me. I play it capoed up 2, so where I give G chords I'm actually using A, and where I give A chords I'm actually using B, but that depends on your vocal range. OLD BLEVINS [G]We had a little quarrel, she and [G7]I [C]She told me just to curl up and die I crept [D7]out to drown my sorrows At a joint called No Tomorrows When the old man came and looked me in the eye Old [G]Blevins
I could tell he had some wisdom to im[G7]part Some [C]story that was etched and burned and stamped upon his heart And his [D7]eyes began to glisten 'Cause he knew that I would listen We sat there at that bar 'til nearly three And this is what Old Blevins said to [G]me He said [C]"Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah [G]blah In Tiju[G7]ana blah blah [C]blah back in 196[D73 [C]Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah [G]blah You should have [Em]been there blah blah [D7]blah Is what Old Blevins said to [G]me (SECOND VERSE AND CHORUS SAME CHORDS AS FIRST) I sat there and I listened to his words As they flapped around my head like little birds Had he gone plumb 'round the bend Or could I just not comprehend His lips were writing lines I could not read When suddenly, it all came clear to me He said "Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah Them crazy hippies blah blah blah blah no effect on me Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah The great depression blah blah blah And he would not let me be (DRAMATIC KEY CHANGE) [A]Old Blevins was still talking as I seized my chance to [A7]flee Back [D]home she's never known I'm not the fool I used to be But I [A]know that a man and woman's lives were somehow changed [A7]By a [D]loathesome toothless geezer, inco[E]herent and deranged And my [D]memories of that evening fuel an [A]inner mounting fear [A7]That I [D]might become Old Blevins any [E]where that they sell beer And I'll say [D]"Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah [A]blah I don't re[A7]member blah blah [D]blah blah blah blah Mistakes were [E]made [D]Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah [A]blah How 'bout them [F#m]Cowboys? blah blah [E]blah Like Old Blevins used to say Old [A]Blevins Peter. |
