The Feblueberry Brain Blues are horrible!! Anybody else have this problem? I can't think, I can't DO anything, I can't play, I can't even remember tunes I should know in my sleep! I need green grass, tulips, daffodils, anything besides brown grass and grey skies........it will be at least a month and a half before we have any serious signs of Spring here........

I have already bought cut flowers and forced bulbs.....I can't face Serious Cleaning......learning new tunes is impossible.....any help?

Right. Just about now I spend lots of time staring at the snow covered spot in the yard where I know my garden will be within a few months. But I always seem to start too soon and loose some transplants to late frost. This time of year makes you crazy.

FULL SPECTRUM FLUORESCENT LIGHTS. Shop light $10 - 20, 90-CRI bulbs about the same cost. Half hour of light-- your brain becomes a blue clicky thingy.

I promise.

Stand the shop lite up in a window that isn't doing its job, near where you sit to mope. You be up and at it in no time.

Hard part is remembering to turn it ON. So LEAVE IT ON.

One overhead, in the never-ending-cleaning area-- the kitchen-- is also smart.

It can make a hen lay eggs when it's 30 below. It'll do wonders for you!

Amos,leave San Diego and come to North Idaho like I did 10 years ago and learn about real snow. Not that funny stuff that sometimes appears in the Cuyamacas and the Lagunas.

Although the Dave Alvin/ Tom Russell song "California Snow" is about that very area.

Gee, you have my deepest sympathy for the February Blues, honest! I hate to say this (not really) but today as I noticed that the Gardenias are blooming early, and smelling beautifully, and grumbling because the roses need pruning, again, I kind of wondered what the other side of the world looks like on a day in February, as I try to yank the weeds out of the flowerbeds, they are flourishing too. I'll bet you really feel sorry for me! I saw snow thirty three years ago, the memory is still with me, I wish it would go. EAT YOUR HEART OUT, World!

Well it is autumn here, but it is still hot and humid most days. It's a bit overcast today, but the last few days have been glorious - vivid blue skies and golden sunny weather. Autumn is really the nicest time of year here. I could have been swimming yesterday, too, but I was too busy.

Then when winter gets here it won't get really cold, except for a couple of cold snaps when the winds from the Antarctic show up. Really close to being in heaven in this part of the world, IMHO.

I'm listening!! It has been a (finally) beautiful day here, so I spent a lot of it outside, just doing piddle-stuff. Tried to buy a lightbulb, but they are Seasonal Merchandise here, and not out yet......when it warms up a little, and I get a new pair of shoes next week, I'm going to try walking again, just to get outside!!!

Our inch of snow is threatening to turn into 6-12. I have a little box from China. When I open the lid the crickets (metal ones) inside chirp. It's reassuring. After a while it's damn annoying.

LAMBS!!! They jump and tell you spring is on its way. Of course, in the meantime you do have to go to the barn and check on the mamas, often get down in the muck to pull them out as they simply do NOT want to wait their turn and try to come out all at once, and my old girl, Salty keeps having two when she only has udder for one, so a bottle is necessary every 4 hours, and its white and bright and NOT rainy (which I hate in the winter). Sounds good to me. And in March the croci will be poking through. It's been a good winter... Get outside Sorcha. The rockies can be wonderful about now. And here's a hug to boot!

Morticia Darling, You just come on over here any time you're ready (Don't forget to bring your "sister") I have a whole house that needs painting, and can't use bad weather as an excuse not to do it. I'll even share my daffodils with you! Your Mom brought them to me a few years ago, they're still blooming. I believe I heard rumors of snow on Maunakea, but I didn't see it on the news. You can keep the rest of the hints of spring, that most times ends up as broken promises. I CAN promise you a rose garden, a lily pond (with resident Bullfrog called Caruso)I'm afraid I have no wood piles, now are they any thing like hemorr..nah! Besides I don't have a fireplace.Sorry love, but sometimes you have to wonder what the poor folk do on days like this.

The high plain is lovely too. Just don't let the Chinook blow you away. I used to love the front range, but it has gotten too crowded.

Crazy on this forum, but...Fresh Aire on American Gramaphone. I used to play it LOTS when winter seemed to hang on TOOOOO long!
