Subject: RE: Big Accomplishment! From: Little Neophyte Date: 26 Feb 01 - 07:54 PM Congratulations Black Walnut! I can totally relate. I had the same experience during my Dwight Diller banjo workshops last week in Michigan. But I feel so 'spent' and overwhelmed I have not yet figured out how to describe what happened. I guess these meaningful moments hold an unspoken joy that is difficult to put into words. The accomplishment is so personal. Bonnie |
Subject: RE: Big Accomplishment! From: GUEST Date: 26 Feb 01 - 08:45 PM There's hope for the jam-ically challenged? Thanks, Walnut. You can be my hero. |
Subject: RE: Big Accomplishment! From: Seamus Kennedy Date: 27 Feb 01 - 02:51 AM What did you play? Give us an earful. And don't stop jammin' Seamus |
Subject: RE: Big Accomplishment! From: black walnut Date: 27 Feb 01 - 07:29 AM Seamus, do you mean what pieces did we play, or what chords did I play? We played pieces that were, you know, folk music. On Sunday morning we played stuff people knew. Like Bill Gallagher and Gordon Lightfoot and John Prine and Traditional and Bob Franke and Gospel and other stuff. The day before we spent an afternoon sharing songs on the theme of death. Songs with murders were encouraged. Very lively session, that was. Chords I played included C, A, D, G, E, F, e minor, d minor, a minor, C 7, G 7..... I remember being a bit embarrassed in the middle of one song when someone pointed out to me that I was playing all the right chords, but that it would sound more together with the group if there was a capo on the second fret. I hadn't even noticed.... ~'nut

Subject: RE: Big Accomplishment! Thank you! Thank you! I'd have almost no folk music life if it weren't for that man. ~'nut |
Subject: RE: Big Accomplishment! From: GUEST Date: 27 Feb 01 - 11:44 PM Oh, yes, the old missing capo bit! bw, I meant the names of the songs and tunes you played, but thanks for throwing the chords in anyway. Jamming is fun. Keep enjoying it. All the best. Seamus |
