It only gets better from here, my friend. Remember that before you can be good you must be bad. Every one of these folks around here was bad in the beginning............even Rick............hahahahahahaha. Go for it, pal. Play every single chance you get secure in the knowledge that it gets better every single time. Good on you.

All the best,

Big Mick

You know the trouble with harp jamming, 'deer? By the time I get 36 levers in the right position everybody's on the next song in a different key, that's what!

But, yah....

Congratulations Black Walnut! I can totally relate. I had the same experience during my Dwight Diller banjo workshops last week in Michigan. But I feel so 'spent' and overwhelmed I have not yet figured out how to describe what happened.
I guess these meaningful moments hold an unspoken joy that is difficult to put into words. The accomplishment is so personal.

Seamus, do you mean what pieces did we play, or what chords did I play?

We played pieces that were, you know, folk music. On Sunday morning we played stuff people knew. Like Bill Gallagher and Gordon Lightfoot and John Prine and Traditional and Bob Franke and Gospel and other stuff. The day before we spent an afternoon sharing songs on the theme of death. Songs with murders were encouraged. Very lively session, that was.

Chords I played included C, A, D, G, E, F, e minor, d minor, a minor, C 7, G 7.....

I remember being a bit embarrassed in the middle of one song when someone pointed out to me that I was playing all the right chords, but that it would sound more together with the group if there was a capo on the second fret. I hadn't even noticed....

Oh, and since my hubbie popped into this thread for a visit, I should thank him here for looking after the kids so that I could go away with my jamming friends for the weekend...Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I'd have almost no folk music life if it weren't for that man.

Oh, yes, the old missing capo bit! bw, I meant the names of the songs and tunes you played, but thanks for throwing the chords in anyway. Jamming is fun. Keep enjoying it.

All the best.

Seamus
