Max Hunter Folk Song Collection [RealPlayer, AIFF] http://www.smsu.edu/folksong/maxhunter/

Edited by Michael F. Murray, Assistant Professor of Music at Southwest Missouri State University, this site offers numerous selections from the Max Hunter Collection, an archive of almost 1,600 Ozark Mountain folk songs, recorded between 1956 and 1976. Hunter was a travelling salesman from Springfield, Missouri who took his reel-to-reel tape recorder with him into the rural Ozarks, recording the songs and stories of people he met. The collection may be keyword searched or browsed by song title, singer, or catalog number. Featured songs list the singer, location, and date and include a transcription of the verses, in some cases a musical score, and links to an audio recording in RealPlayer, high-quality AIFF, and for some selections, MIDI formats.
