Subject: RE: Eng Trad Music Easter School From: wes.w Date: 02 Apr 01 - 08:08 AM I passed on the idea, JohnB. The comment came back that since much of these classes are based on individual, rather than group tuition, they would be very difficult to video. |

Subject: RE: Eng Trad Music Easter School From: wes.w Date: 30 Mar 01 - 06:26 AM I don't think there is any intention to make commercial videos, JohnB, just archive. But I'll pass on the idea - I wonder if FSW have considered it? |
Subject: RE: Eng Trad Music Easter School From: GUEST,JohnB Date: 29 Mar 01 - 12:25 PM I'll take a copy of the video's, all of them. How much is that going to cost me??? JohnB |
Subject: RE: Eng Trad Music Easter School From: MikeofNorthumbria Date: 29 Mar 01 - 10:02 AM "But isn't it great that Shirley Collins, Martin Carthy, John Kirkpatrick, Jon Swayne, Gina Le Faux, and Tim Van Eyken are ALL tutoring, rather than performing?" In a word, yes! It's a project that deserves to succeed, (and proliferate)and I wish it all success. Wassail! |
Subject: RE: Eng Trad Music Easter School From: wes.w Date: 29 Mar 01 - 07:54 AM Folk South West is a charity, so things like profit and commercial viability don't really come into it. Its more about education than performances. Marketing anything like this is always difficult, but adverts have been put in the main British folk mags, plus mail shots to many individuals and organisations.Videos will be made where possible, anyway. But isn't it great that Shirley Collins, Martin Carthy, John Kirkpatrick, Jon Swayne, Gina Le Faux, and Tim Van Eyken are ALL tutoring, rather than performing? |
Subject: RE: Eng Trad Music Easter School From: MikeofNorthumbria Date: 29 Mar 01 - 06:36 AM Any chance of somebody producing a video of the highlights, for the benefit of those of us who'd like to be there, but can't? If marketed properly it might actually make a profit - and even if it's not commercially viable in the short term, a copy should be archived for the benefit of future generations. Wassail!

Subject: RE: Eng Trad Music Easter School From: wes.w Date: 09 Mar 01 - 08:29 AM English Traditional Music School at Bath, West of England, 17-20 April Latest News: It seems that various grants are available for some participants, to reduce the price from £125. Its on a flyer from the contact below, who are a registered charity. Shirley Collins's song workshops are now well over the expected number but under maximum (just!). John Kirkpatrick might be willing to teach anglo concertina, as well as accordian, if anybody is interested.

Subject: Eng Trad Music Easter School From: wes.w Date: 02 Mar 01 - 09:33 AM I've added this event to the what's on thread, but I've just heard that the Shirley Collins song tutoring has had a large rush (as well it should!), and only a few places left. Still places for all the others though. I'll post here if I hear any more. Hope thats OK Mudcat bosses? Smack my wrists if not! |
