Each March we attend the Inishowen Seminar in Co. Donegal. It's where we first met Martin Ryan, George Henderson, John Moulden and Philippa among other fine singers and good people. If you love traditional song and have never been there, hit the blue click thing for a look at this year's program. There is also the unofficial part of the program, i.e. brilliant singing sessions featuring the many wonderful local singers and participants from all around Ireland and over from Britain plus "drop-ins" like Paddy Tunney and Packie Manus Byrne.

Each year, Bob Conroy and I do a few gigs on the way to Inishowen and, with our Irish in America CD having just come out, we're going to be covering a little more ground this year. We will, in fact, not miss a Province.

Here's a list of when and where:

March 16 – Goilin Singers Club, Trinity Inn, Pearse Street, Dublin 2
March 17 – Session, An Spailpin Fanach, South Main Street, Cork City
March 18 – Cork Singers Club, An Spailpin Fanach, South Main Street, Cork City
March 19 – Cashel Singers, Dansies, Rosegreen, Co. Tipperary
March 20 – Concert, Ardmayle Parish Hall, Ardmayle, Co. Tipperary
March 21 – Ennis Singers Club, Brandon's Bar, O'Connell Street, Ennis, Co. Clare
March 22 – South Roscommon Singers Club, Murray's, Knockcroghery, Co. Roscommon

If you can't make it to the Inishowen Seminar (March 23 – 26) and you feel like a night out, please come over to sing with us and, by all means, please say hello. Otherwise we'll see you in Inishowen. Who's coming?

All the best,
Dan Milner

Hi Dan

We are going, that is the 4 muskateers from Nenagh. George, Frank, Mike, and Tom Joe Spillane.

Tom Joe is a Charater and a half and this will be his first visit to the North West corner. I think you will have met him when you played Nenagh two years ago.

Looking forward to seeing you all again.

George Henderson

Hello Irish Mudcatters - can you help me in my quest to find dance steps to SIMPLE ceilidh dances - there is a thread on this but it is now lost in far off mudcat days. Any help gratefully received

Sarah

Dan

There are rumours that the festival may be lost to foot-and-mouth (makes it very difficult to sing!). I've emailed Jimmy to check.

Regards

I'm very pleased to tell you that I just spoke on the phone with organiser, Jimmy McBride, and the Inishowen Festival will go on as planned! He has no intention of stopping it and only asks that those attending follow all directives that are issued to contain foot and mouth.

Therefore, Martin, I look forward seeing you there... if not before.

All the best,
Dan Milner

Thanks, Dan - I'd better pick up that Elizabeth Cronin book, so!
