Subject: RE: Tune Req: Highland Fairy Lullaby From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 06 Mar 01 - 04:10 PM I prefer it in the Gaelic. It's known as An Coineachan. Lesley Nelson did a MIDI of it which I have at my page with the Gaelic version. |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Highland Fairy Lullaby From: Deni Date: 07 Mar 01 - 12:45 AM Glad I saw this lovely song. But you can just imagine poor later babies shivering in their booties at being lulled to sleep by this. Would you like to have a mother that just ...mislaid you? Deni. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Highland Fairy Lullaby From: Sorcha Date: 07 Mar 01 - 12:54 AM Well, I didn't mislay her, but.......I kinda, sorta dropped Kate the first time I held her. Hey,it had been almost 7 years since I had a wee bairn, and I was asleep. The nurse just plopped her down without waking me, and um, her head sort of slipped down under my elbow, behind my back.........they wouldn't answer my Call button.....I hurt too bad to move.......we were stuck like that for quite a while. At least she never actually hit the floor. When she finally started screaming loudly enough they could hear her at the Nurses Station, they came to see what the problem was. Geez, Sorch. (They sent me home 6 hours later........) |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Highland Fairy Lullaby From: Deni Date: 07 Mar 01 - 01:05 AM Sorcha. That conjours up a really funny/sad picture. You must have felt awful. On the first time out with my new baby, I left him outside a shop and started for home. It wasn't until I saw a friend approaching me with a pram that I went, oh mi God and ran back...He was still there. I had four more kids and never took my hand off their prams. Life has since changed, thankfully people don't leave babies outside any more. Deni |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Highland Fairy Lullaby From: Sorcha Date: 07 Mar 01 - 01:17 AM HA! You FORGOT him!! At least I knew where she was, LOL!! It was more funny than anything, but it hurt to bad to laugh! |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Highland Fairy Lullaby From: Barry T Date: 07 Mar 01 - 02:13 AM Here is my token midi arrangement. Elegant in its simplicity, this is one I like to play on the pipes. It's a great slow march for an entire band, too. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Highland Fairy Lullaby From: alison Date: 07 Mar 01 - 07:17 AM beautiful arrangement Barry this year in Oz there have been a a few kids left in cars in blazing sunshine... one died... and many other abandoned in the cars in casino car parks... maybe the faeries lifting a few would work better than the police fines are doing....... slainte alison |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Highland Fairy Lullaby From: Bernard Date: 07 Mar 01 - 08:04 AM I have Rosemary Hardman's first album 'Queen of Hearts', long since deleted, and it's on there - she accompanied herself on Appalachian dulcimer. If anyone wants an MP3 of it, I'll sort it at weekend. I'm sure Rosie won't mind! Just the one track, BTW! |
