Hi,

My wife was telling me about the song she remembers as "Draw The Sword Scotland". We were discussing Aluld Lang Sine at the time and it is the only other song about forgiveness that she knew of, and that only in the last verse where the sword, and the quarel were put away.

I look forward to hearing from you on this one. I want it to end a novel.

Yours

Ed Wilson

Subject: Lyr Add: DRAW THE SWORD, SCOTLAND

Hi, Ed - apparently, we don't have the song at the Digital Tradition folk song database at the Mudcat Cafe. Check your thread a few times over the next few days, and I'm sure people will post lots of information. I did a search at google.com and came up with this, which you should be able to access with a click:

There appear to be a number of sites with background information on the song.

Hope that helps.

DRAW THE SWORD, SCOTLAND
Draw the sword, Scotland, Scotland Scotland,
Over moor & mountain hath passed the war
The Pibroch is pealing, pealing, pealing
Wha heeds not its summons is nae son of thine,
The clans they are gathering, gathering, gathering,
The clans they are gathering, by lock and by lee,
The banners they are flying, flying, flying,
The banners they are flying that leads to Victory,
Sheath the sword Scotland Scotland Scotland Scotland,
Charge as you have charged in the days of lang syne,
Sound to the onset, the onset, the onset.
He who now falters is nae son o' thine.
Sheath the sword Scotland Scotland Scotland,
Sheathe the sword Scotland—dim'd is its shine,
Thy foemen are fleeing, fleeing, fleeing
And wha kens no mercy is ne'r son o' thine.
