Subject: From: gmb0@ms1.allencol.edu Date: 16 Dec 96 - 10:13 PM For those who remeber, there was a song from the movie Jaws" where, after they all get drunk on Quint's boat, they sung a son with the words: SHow me the way to go home/ I'm tired and I want to go to bed/ I had a little drink about an hour ago/ and it went right to my head. If anybody can fill in the rest of the song, I would be very appreciative.

Subject: Lyr Add: SHOW ME THE WAY TO GO HOME From: Kevin Date: 17 Dec 96 - 09:33 AM Show me the way to go home. I'm tired and I want to go to bed. I had a little drink about an hour ago And it went right to my head. No matter where I roam, On land or sea or foam, You can always hear me singing my song, Show me the way to go home. That's the only verse I know. I remember it from one of my father's Mitch Miller albums. I think they just repeated this verse over and over again but there might be other verses. Kevin |

Subject: SHOW ME THE WAY TO GO HOME - info From: Jerry Friedman, jfriedman@nnm.cc.nm.us Date: 07 Jan 97 - 05:22 PM I learned the same vocabularian version as you, Dick, but with the lines, "Wherever I may perambulate, On land or sea or agitated water." In any version, the best part is the cerebellum. A few lines from the song are also sung in Tennessee Williams's play _Camino Real_, along with a lot of drinking songs that I didn't recognize. |

Subject: Lyr Add: SHOW ME THE WAY TO GO HOME (parody) From: lady penelope Date: 14 Sep 01 - 06:00 PM The song I remember from Jaws is " Fairwell you Ladies of Spain" !
Indicate direction to my abode Ok so you have to get a fair bit of syncapation in on some of the lines, but we quite often end up shuffling about to it ( lets face it you're generally not going to be sober when you start singing things like this ) and we can pretend we can dance at these points! Happy paddling! TTFN M'Lady P. |
