My grandfather listened to the country station (I can still hear the jingle in my head -- "K-A-Y-O one one five oh") so maybe it's a country song. This is all I remember: "LSD made a wreck of me" and

The track is labelled as "L.S.D." and as being by The Pretty Things, but I've listened to that song by that bad and they don't match. It's the one on the compilation I like. They're totally different songs with different lyrics, so I think it's mislabelled. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: LSD Made a Wreck of Me From: GUEST,Vince Whirlwind Date: 06 Feb 22 - 06:46 AM The 'Wavy Gravy' mentioned earlier in this thread doesn't refer to the erstwhile Merry Prankster of that name, but rather to the title of an obscure UK compilation LP of weird '60s novelty / trash / garage records that came out in the '80s, which included Wendell Austin's version of the song LSD. This album was hugely popular with me and my friends. I bought a copy way back then and still have it. It's since been reissued in an expanded CD version with cleaned-up audio but with some of the racier between-song spoken tracks that were on the vinyl version excised: https://tinyurl.com/2p8r74ak Wendell Austin's 'LSD' is the original version of the song that Rudi Protrudi later covered. |
