I hope someone can help here. I just got cubase and it has the potential to be a great programme for recording on my PC, except I can't get it to record audio tracks. I can record midi till the cows come home. I'm using the Sound Blaster Platinum Pro 5.1 sound card. I go through all the set up instructions as per the owners manual in Cubase but I don't get any levels on the audio monitor. I'm also using the Euroracks two channel mixer to boost line levels. When I plug my guitar into the mixer I can monitor the sound through my computer speaker system, so I know that my sound card is working ok. Somehow it isn't talking to Cubase. Do I need to set levels in the sound card's software? What do I need to do? Help!!! Den

I only have a very old cut-down version (cubasis audio lite), but with mine you have to record an audio sound to a .wav file (nothing to do with cubase in my version), and then you get cubase to play that particular .wav file (or any other) back by adding an event in one of the tracks, more like 'samples' in todays pop music. I think perhaps this could be related to why you are having problems, and perhaps cubase doesn't do quite what you think it can, but as I said, my version is old, and things change quickly. I'm disappearing for a weeks holiday now, so repost again Monday week if you are still stuck, and no one else has any suggestions.

I have not used it, but was recently looking at programs to record and convert from RA to wav....and found these, which seem to record and convert a lot of formats...

Do you have the correct ASIO drivers?

There are quite a few things it could be - check you're on the correct channel in the Cubase mixer console, and that you've got the VST inputs set up OK.

Have you armed the track, and is it showing a waveform when you record, but just not getting any sound, or no waveform showing?

I know these things are infuriating but they normally work with a bit of fiddling.

.. funny that.. it's now 10 years since I last used Cubase...

2011 - More than enough high quality free music software generously available
to ever be bothered going back to any market dominating overpriced corporate bloatware..

GtD -

Is anyone else wondering how long it will take "Freelance writer" to figure out that a text-based site where people actually know how to write their own sentences is not nearly as likely to attract someone who needs their services as a site like Facebook (or even better MySpace) where all the illiterates hang out?

(S)he could probably advertise "Freelance Idiot" there and get a few hits without misrepresenting the (lack of) talents available?

John
