This is a great old song.I think it was done a lot as an instumental on guitar. Etta Baker, Hank snow. I was also sung by several old time blues singers.(Can't recall names)

Some of the silly boys would sing the third verse as, "The blues I can't 'fuse when it rains.

Those are the lyrics I recall, from versions by Jim Reeves and Jerry Lee Lewis. If there are verses to go with this, I have not heard them. Anyone else?

Kate MacKenzie did a version on her 'Let Them Talk' with busy bluegrass backing from Fleck, Duncan et alia. It is more or less what is posted above, plus some additional lines. The lyric sheet attributes the song to Marcy Klauber and Harry Stoddard with additional lyrics by Kate MacKenzie. Do you want those?
