Subject: first CD of Déanta

Hi there,

I love the voice of Mary Dillon. I also love Déanta and their music. What I don't love is that I hardly understand any of the lyric she is singing. That might be because of her dialect.

Is there anyone who has the lyrics of the first CD of Déanta?? Except Willie Taylor and Green fields of Americay. I managed those already.

I am also looking for the chords to all of the songs. It would be great if anyone could help me. Thanks.

Sabine

The lyrics to Dark Innisheown are already in the DT (or at least there was a thread about it...) so you could do a search and find it that way.

I used to have this CD but it went walking...I was working on the song about Culloden but sadly do not remember all the words.

Most of what is on that album, though, excepting the song above, are traditional and should be easily found. Lakes of Pont Chartrain for example...

I was sure "Culloden's Harvest" was traditional.

Thanks a million to you all.

Now the only song missing is "cold grey fairyland". Has anyone got an idea where to find it? Or is able to write it down?

Sabine

Cold Grey Fairyland

Children, sweet dreams
Hold on to your dreams
Sella Field is only a cold grey fairyland

The chill of the Eastern wind
Crawls across the sea
Taunting the waves
And tempting the sun
A blanket of fear
And darkness 'round us is
Down through our homes
Through our blood
Down through our blood

Grey is the night sky
But blacker is the dawn
Faceless man and foreign smiles
Play out the lands
But tomorrow will be
Full of promise, full of life
But the chill in the wind
Cries "no, no, no"

Children, sweet dreams
Hold on to your dreams
Sella Field is only a cold grey fairyland
Children, sweet dreams
Hold on to your dreams
Sella Field is only a cold grey fairyland

Children, we leave you
A wasteland of lines
Blind and unsighted
Your cries go unheard
And the meek shall inherit
Cold and barren lands
The price of the war
Undeclared, undeclared

Sellafield being a nuclear power plant in England, also known as Windscale.....

I don't have a problem with the accent.... 'cos its similar to mine....*grin*

if I remember rightly they are from Randalstown, or Portglenone in Northern Ireland....

great group... and she does have a wonderful voice....

Corrected lyrics to Cold Grey Fairyland .

Children, sweet dreams,
Hold on to your dreams;
Sellafield is only a cold, grey fairyland.

The chill of the Eastern wind
Crawls across the sea,
Taunting the waves
And tainting the sun;
A blanket of fear
And of darkness 'round us seeps
Down through our hopes,
Through our blood,
Down through our blood.

Grey is the night sky,
But blacker is the dawn;
Faceless men and foreign smiles
Play out the lies;
But tomorrow will be
Full of promise, full of life;
But the chill in the wind
Cries, "no, no, no!"

Children, sweet dreams,
Hold on to your dreams;
Sellafield is only a cold, grey fairyland.

Children, we leave you
A wasteland all around;
Blighted and slighted,
Your cries go unheard;
For the meek shall inherit
A cold and barren land;
The price of a war
Undeclared, undeclared.

Good news: Mary Dillon is active as a singer again, after a long hiatus. She released an album in 2014, sounding great.
