I have done several things to increase the speed of the Mudcat. One is that I have offloaded all of our images to a server of its own so the demand on our machines is reduced. I also put all the download stuff on an anonymous ftp server also off-site. I am doing some bandwidth analysis tonight to further determine our load and any bottlenecks. I already analyzed the databases and they are optimal, so I know they are not an issue.

Please let me know if any of you notice any speed changes since 4:30pm (EST) Sunday.

Gonna do some other stuff tonight, so stand by for the October Digitrad and some other stuff.

A collateral issue, perhaps, but how do I get rid of (erase) a message on my page that someone sent using the "Get Someone's Attention" feature. I've tried everything I can think of, short of TNT.

Speed has improved by a factor of 50 or better. I logged on this morning and it came up like a bat out of Georgia. It will certainly increase the amount of time I can spend at this site. Thanks, Max!

Wow!!!

This is absolutly GREAT!!! This is the first time since 10 October that I've been able to get on in under an hour and a half! It only took 6 or 7 minutes. Wow! Wow! Accolades Max!

Max, I don't even begin to understand what you did from a technical perspective. From an emotional side, though, you have sent our spirits soaring. What a gas to be able to bounce through threads in seconds instead of minutes. The Cafe should be held up to all site designers as an example of how great the internet can be to promote a real feeling of comraderie.
