Subject: RE: Catters going to Sidmouth? From: JeZeBeL Date: 12 Apr 01 - 01:52 PM I am going for the day as I am camping near Linton for two weeks so I may try and kip overnight, sorry play music all night with other mudcatters. It'd be great to meet up with others I haven't yet met. |
Subject: RE: Catters going to Sidmouth? From: JudeL Date: 12 Apr 01 - 10:05 AM Dress up like at Towersey wouldn't work without Second-hand Sue and her "alterations". As for the singing, sorry performing, in the buff, you've been associating too much with Dave Guest if you're talking about that - he keeps trying to persuade us to sing in the showers instead of the changing rooms at Grove. Subject: RE: Catters going to Sidmouth? From: Gervase Date: 12 Apr 01 - 09:48 AM None that can be posted here! Tony O'Neill in the Barn at Towersey does a "dress-up" night, when Micca exposes his knees to the world under his kilt - but the thought of all those yellow tee-shirts under dinner jackets and over ball-gowns is maybe a bit too much. The trouble with fancy dress is that, at Sidmouth, everyone seems to dress like a loon. Seal always looks as if he's off to find the source of the Nile, and there are far to many daft hats (my own included). I suppose we could all perform in the buff, or our swimming scanties on the Thursday before hoofing off to sing in the sea. There again, think of all those impressionable children around... |
Subject: RE: Catters going to Sidmouth? From: JudeL Date: 12 Apr 01 - 09:38 AM I suppose the question is what next - now we've done the explosion in a lingerie factory look - we need a new theme. Got any suggestions? |
Subject: RE: Catters going to Sidmouth? From: Gervase Date: 12 Apr 01 - 09:29 AM Too true - a bit of toilet trading would appear tame after Wimmin's Hour! |
Subject: RE: Catters going to Sidmouth? From: JudeL Date: 12 Apr 01 - 09:25 AM Gervase: the reason I put it in quotes was because I find it strange to refer to any place that has 4 or more bedrooms as a cottage - even though that is one of the two ways the booking agent refers to it - the other term they use is, the property, which to me sounds a bit pretentious. Meanwhile what is it you are unsure if Sidmouth is ready for? I would have thought after getting Annie into that costume, and Tony's encounter with the riding whip - Sidmouth should be able cope with most things. Jude |
Subject: RE: Catters going to Sidmouth? From: Gervase Date: 12 Apr 01 - 07:50 AM Jude - you've booked a "cottage"! Somehow putting it in quotes reminds me of Joe Orton. Is Sidmouth really ready for that sort of thing?! |
Subject: RE: Catters going to Sidmouth? From: JudeL Date: 11 Apr 01 - 10:31 AM Liz: Paul & I will be there have booked a "cottage" for the week,if you fancy a little more comfort than the polyester palace, give us a ring. If you've lost the number ask Micca. Jude |

Subject: RE: Catters going to Sidmouth? From: Joy Bennett Date: 10 Apr 01 - 04:23 PM There are rumors abound that Sidmouth is in trouble of being cancelled -- anyone know anything about that? i certainly hope it's on!! |
Subject: RE: Catters going to Sidmouth? From: Tattie Bogle Date: 25 Mar 01 - 07:48 PM Too right, I'll be there again - my in-laws live in the town so have been going for a good few years. I also go to the Anchor most lunchtimes, for main bar instrumental sessions, or joined in with the MBS (Middle Bar Singers) last year: otherwise when not attending concerts or workshops the Bedford bar is great for sheer variety. I bought a "catsuit" from one of the Arena stalls last year (T-shirt and trousers wi' cats painted on - the mind boggles!) so any other "catters" will recognise me instantly ( unless lots of other people bought the same!!) Subject: RE: Catters going to Sidmouth? From: GUEST,Peter Boulby Date: 20 Mar 01 - 07:47 AM Were there from Monday onwards, work commitments prevent us being there from the start, where are you performing? Have you been before? We saw one of your country men there last year, he sold out over 5000 watching him , no clues who it was. Hope you have as good a Sidmouth as he did. It is a brilliant venue and very friendly. You might come across me at a singaround or Ceildh we performed in the choir last year with Sandra Kerr and are looking forward to the same again. regards Pete
