I can find a group called The Brothers Johnson (not Johnston); and I can find several different songs called SMALL TOWN GIRL (as well as similar titles like SMALL TOWN BOY, LITTLE SMALL TOWN GIRL, SMALL TOWN GAL, etc.) but I can't find where The Brothers Johnson have recorded a song with one of those titles.

A good method for finding lyrics is to first go to AMG - All Music Guide to find out all you can about a song – who recorded it, on what album, what year, and who the songwriter is – and at the same time, verify the exact spelling of the artist and the song title.

If the album is still available, you can often find it at a site like Barnes & Noble which often provides sound samples. Listen to the sample of the song you want and transcribe as many words as you can. Once you have a long string of words that you're sure are exactly right, use that phrase, in quotes, to search with Google. It's a good idea to use something other than the song title.

For example, searching for "Texarkana's an hour ahead" (in quotes) takes you directly to a site that contains the lyrics to 24 HOURS AT A TIME. Note that if you search for "24 HOURS AT A TIME" you'll find lots of sites that mention the song but don't give lyrics.

24 Hours At A Time

24 Hours At A Time
Written by Toy Caldwell

I've been down around Houston,Texas
Where the sun shines most of the time
I've been driving about six hours
Tryin' to reach that Arkansas line
But Texarkana's an hour ahead
And I've got to keep my wheels rolling

But woman you're always on my mind
So my woman I'm hoping you feel the same way

Woman you know that I miss you
And I can't miss you no more
I got this ride doing seventy miles an hour
She's loaded she's down to the floor
But I've got to reach that Arkansas line
Before the sun goes down

But woman you're always on my mind
Twenty-four hours at a time
So my woman I'm hoping you feel the same way

Woman you know I need you
I've been on the road too much
Tired of looking at the highway
Got to keep in touch some way

I've been down around Houston,Texas
Where the sun shines most of the time
I've been driving about six hours
Tryin' to reach that Arkansas line
But Texarkana's an hour ahead
And I've got to keep my wheels rolling

But woman you're always on my mind
Twenty-four hours at a time
So my woman I'm hoping you feel the same way
Feel the same way, feel the same way ....

24 HOURS AT A TIME
by the Marshall Tucker Band
written by Toy Caldwell 1974

I been down around Houston, Texas
where the sun shines most of the time
I been drivin' about six hours
tryin' to reach that Arkansas line,
Texarkana is an hour ahead
And I got to keep my wheels roll-ing

But woman, you're always on my mind
Twenty-four hours at a time
So, my wo-man...
I'm hopin' you feel the same...   way

Woman, you know that I miss you,
And I can't miss you no more
I got this (wide?) doing sev'ny miles an hour
She's loaded, she's down to the floor
`Cause I got to reach that Arkansas line
Before the sun goes dow-wn, yeah

But woman, you're always on my mind
Twenty-four hours at a time
So, my wo-man...
I'm hopin' you feel the same...   way

Woman, you know I need you,
I been on the road so much
(Blah blah blah) the next highway
Got to keep in tou-uch, some way

I been down around Houston, Texas
where the sun shines most of the time
I been drivin' about six hours
tryin' to reach that Arkansas line,
Texarkana is an hour ahead
And I got to keep my wheels roll-ing

But woman, you're always on my mind
Twenty-four hours at a time
So, my wo-man...
I'm hopin' you feel the same...   way
feel the same...   way
feel the same...   way

(long instrumental out)

Can't find these lyrics on the web anywhere (Apparently people who did have them up on their sites were threatened with legal action and pulled them off) so I wrote out what I could make out of Doug Gray's lispy speech impediment-laden vocals from the CD. A few blank spots. Sorry.

I am looking for lyrics to 3 songs. The first song is Small Town Girl by The Brothers Johnston. next is 24 hours at a time by the marshall tucker band, and finally 6 Days On The Road. I'm not sure who did the last song but I was told it was recorded by several people.
