Anyone passing through our way this weekend is welcome to join us. Headed this way to see Hardiman the Fiddler, Artsy D Lemur, and me are MMario and Dharmabum. May be a couple of our jam pals will be around as well. Best bet for jamming will be Saturday noonish, but more could happen, and the door will be open all weekend.

Maybe some of you Orillians have had enough snow and would like to come enjoy the smells of thawing farmland? Got lots of sleeping space left too, not to mention the dank bowels and wind-chilled belltower of the church!!!

The house blessing is still a ways off. This is just a little respite from the cold and lonely winter (sob, sniff).... till more can come in the warmer days when tents and porch-pickin' make sense too.

I think though I WILL thaw that turkey, and cook that corned beef and...

Edmonston Publishing in Hamilton New York has evinced an interest and they should have the manuscript by tomorrow. By the by, I'll be in Elmira first weekend in May for Civil War gig. Bert, be sure to pack lots of good car tunes if you come up, and be sure to check for stowaways when you leave here. *G* Hope if you come you will plan on staying for the Saturday night service. We can tape it and auction the result. I think it must be time for some foot stomping spirituals, with as many guitars as possible drowning out the electric autoharp for once. Don't be scared now-- it's strictly a come-as-you-are chance for frolics and deep peace. NO SUITS!

Frank-- I do not presently have a PalTalk-capable 'puder, sorry. But maybe we will make a field recording. It will mostly be laughing I am afraid. In tune if we can manage it. We will take some pictures.

The frown was for the conflict. I'm sorry to miss it, but no question for me on the priorities. April 21 is an all day Sacred Harp singing near Rochester. How far is that for you? We're also having one near Albany in June & Cooperstown in Aug.

No, I know Burke, I was kidding. Rochester... I dunno. Stuff like that is always dependent on Hardi's exhaustion factor. I hope you'll keep reminders coming. And I would love to try one here if we could work out details. I would have to wrassle up the folks in these parts first, but I believe it could be done, as an evening.

Are there videos of Sacred Harp I could use with the local churches to get the idea moving?

Oh good!

Grab a snack but dinner will be late, so leave room for it. Black Angus steaks smothered in onion cream. ("Be thou fish," sez Hardiman's Friday grace. He's gotta keep up his strenth for Lent ya know!) Mushrooms may be involved as well. And so forth. Ending with hot apple pie filling on vanilla ice cream. A modest but (we hope) tasty supper. By the time you arrive we should be in full cooking frenzy, since we finally replaced the smoked spices and herbs yesterday. Don't make me give it to the dog now.

Sigh.... we will have to content ourselves with chili cheese dogs for a large late lunch... but we got the dining room dug out finally and you simply must be there for the first use of the sterling.

Sunny and spring-breezy here. Perhaps the steaks will be grilled. Come ahead! Park in back in a "dry" spot and come in through the back as usual despite fire damage still evident. Watch the broken back step and the drips, especially inside the laundry room.

Got all the fixin's for Thai iced coffee too, and a new coffeepot just the right size.

I thought that might ease your Friday a bit. Wait till you see the breakfast choices. We may have to jam in the kitchen... song circle, recipe circle. It's not too late to thaw that small leg of lamb, either, and there are makings for hummus as well.

You may have to dig me out from the mountain of drycleaning (fire recovery) that just arrived. It will apparently not be heaven until you guys get here-- till then I'm in Laundry Hell!

one of my socks has run away again. he (it is a he - a dirty old geezer my niece got me in the UK) will show up again I know - he does this every time I wash him but it is frustrating!

Hate to have ya driving with that delicious odor makin' ya nuts. On the OTHER hand... if yours is better TASTING.... tellya what. Hang onto the ham and let us do this one, and you pick up some NA beer if you get a chance. Laundry hell seems to go with beer.

I found the towels! Can't help ya with the damn sock though, got my own orphans there. I'll feed em to the dog.

wow! what a great visit with the folks at Wellsboro. I got to wind down and relax, the food was incredible, and a sheer pleasure to listen to Hardiman and Dharmabum jam. A good time too at their saturday evening service - sang the Judas and Mary song from the lenten music thread. I didn't have time to learn the right tune - so we did it to "Maid on the shore" - only MUCH faster then I usually do it! *pant,pant, huff, puff*

I sorta promised myself not to mention the whip incident, nor the accusations about damage to the carpet - but hey, might as well make you wonder.

Dharmabum left about 10:30 this morning after we sang one more song, this time on the phone to Amos all the way west in San Diego! So I am counting Amos as having been here. I am still wearing the hugs that were left for me to pass on to him when I see him next... they kind of tingle!

I cannot believe we managed to do three church services and get some sleep, amid all the music we played and sang. (We pulled several items off the Mudcat for fresh songsheets.) And of course we talked about the Big Life Questions in true Mudcatter fashion, as well. This did not, however, keep us from having our ice cream and apple topping, finally, late last night.

I have, for the small trouble it was to hostess this, many new songs, lots of laughs embedded deep in my heart, new jamming skills, a husband who got to play with the BOYS for a change, a dog that now wants to be in on everything that happens in our house, and a fridge full of leftovers to DIE for.

We forgot to take pictures... don't know where we would have hung them up anyhow, so whatever!

We also talked together and made a plan for a bigger version of the event, the last weekend of April. Watch for a new thread.
