It also seems to me rather as if you can only find things if you already know what you are looking for.

Seems to me that everything I look up there says you can listen to the recordings only if you're at the library. Am I just looking up the wrong things?

wowwwwww.

You're gonna love this.

I was tracking down a song Barry Finn reminded me of, and found several buried threads that mentioned this site, but it has obviously become something truly amazing since then.

Have fun! It's only Saturday night!

Check out the accents!

Dani

refresh.
Invaluable for finding out whether Dickie Bishop, Les Bennetts,Jimmie Currie or Denny Wright played lead guitar on which of Lonnie Donegan's ouevres.
And of course, rarer recordings of more interest to buffs of all sorts of music and much more.
RtS (spent more time there than on the 'Cat yesterday, must get some work done today!)

I don't think anyone else has noted this on the 'Cat yet:
the UK British Library national Sound Archive has launched its catalogue on the web as CADENSA at
http://cadensa.bl.uk Click here for CADENSA
In the long term they hope to add direct links from the catalogue to digitized copies of the recordings/
