Subject: I just can't work no longer From: GUEST,Steve Date: 27 Mar 01 - 08:46 AM The song is "I Just Can't Work No Longer" and I know that David Lindley recorded it. It's a great song and I'd appreciate it if anybody can find the lyrics (guitar tab/chords a bonus). I believe it's a traditional song of sorts. |

Subject: Lyr Add: I CAN'T WORK NO LONGER (Curtis Mayfield) From: Jim Dixon Date: 21 Feb 10 - 12:15 PM I CAN'T WORK NO LONGER Curtis Mayfield CHORUS: I just can't work no longer I've got to see my woman right now. And we ain't getting any younger. I've got to get to her love somehow. When clouds come, it's rainin' The sun comes and shine . Lord, I ain't complainin' I've done wrong and I'm serving my time Now if there's any good in me, I'll bring it out so that you might see That I'm just another lonely man Who wants to stop my sin and all over begin. Let me tell you now that [CHORUS] This woman on the other side, She's my joy and all of my pride. Though I hurt her so constantly, My woman love can have faith in me. But how long can a good thing last? And I vow never to hurt in the past. Will she be there, waiting for me? My time is up and I'm finally free. You know now that [CHORUS] [Recorded by Billy Butler and the Enchanters; and The Pursuasions.] |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: I Can't Work No Longer (Curtis Mayfield) From: Jim Dixon Date: 24 Feb 10 - 06:56 PM David Lindley & El Rayo-X did indeed record this song under the title I JUST CAN'T WORK NO LONGER, on their album "Very Greasy" (1988). According to Allmusic.com, it is designated as "traditional" on that album, but I believe that was a mistake & it was actually written by Curtis Mayfield. |
