Subject: RE: BS: Tavern Rites of Spring 3 From: kendall Date: 18 Apr 01 - 08:12 AM Thanks for that info Micca. Very interesting. When I was a kid, we used to "hang May baskets". Didn't have a clue why, we just did.As I recall, the idea was to hang the basket on the doorknob, knock loudly, then run. If the recipient saw you, and could catch you, you had to submit to being kissed. I never could run very fast. One year, I found a dead sparrow and buried it in my May basket. My genius grand daughter was born on May 1st.Three of my siblings were born in May. I was born on the 10th. May is my favorite month. I ramble...sorry. |
Subject: RE: BS: Tavern Rites of Spring 3 From: Micca Date: 18 Apr 01 - 03:44 AM for more info on Mayday, here is an article by Peg, scroll down the page.. |

Subject: RE: BS: Tavern Rites of Spring 3 From: Peg Date: 17 Apr 01 - 08:00 PM Walpurgisnacht is really just another name for Beltane Eve/Mayday Eve...the night before the fertility/coming of summer festival...Beltane is one of the four main cross quarter festivals alomng with Samhain, Lughnasad, and Imbolc...

Subject: RE: BS: Tavern Rites of Spring 3 From: SINSULL Date: 02 Apr 01 - 08:41 AM After a wild night of Olympic Wrestling (WWF) I am re-primed for the festivities. Here's the sacrificial knife. Where's Big Mick and Matt? Let's get this over with and get on to the drinking and orgying and all. I bet I know who Zeus is...and I can whip his ass at Trivial Pursuit any day! Especially when he is in his cups - alcoholic not athletic. |

Subject: RE: BS: Tavern Rites of Spring 3 From: kendall Date: 01 Apr 01 - 04:31 PM I think I know who Zeus is, but, so far, Only Matt has been willing to stick his neck out and venture a guess. The perfect grammar and spelling might very well lead you to think it is I, Matt. Nice try! |

Subject: RE: BS: Tavern Rites of Spring 3 From: GUEST,Bacchus in Florida Date: 31 Mar 01 - 11:44 PM Your roving fertility ritual practitioner and orgy organizer here on the Sun Coast. Glad to see the nymphs are still plump and juicy, the satyrs are being sated, and the centaurs are still hitting the mark. Party on, my children! |
Subject: RE: BS: Tavern Rites of Spring 3 From: Peg Date: 31 Mar 01 - 11:18 PM I have my kitties...they like it when I am home in the evening! Jeez, Matt this is supposed to be a humorous thread; why are you such a downer all the time?
|
Subject: RE: BS: Tavern Rites of Spring 3 From: kendall Date: 31 Mar 01 - 10:59 PM I'm also home on a sat. eve. Why? well, there seems to be a paucity of intelligent, free women around here, so, I have my computer and my dog for company. My computer lets me stay in touch with my cyber friends ( most of whom ARE intelligent) and I like my dog better than most people. |
Subject: RE: BS: Tavern Rites of Spring 3 From: kendall Date: 31 Mar 01 - 10:54 PM An old man of 80 got married for the first time. A friend asked, "Why did you wait so long?" he answered, "If you get a good one, she's worth waiting for, and, if you get a bad one, you dont have so long to live with her." |
Subject: RE: BS: Tavern Rites of Spring 3 From: Matt_R Date: 31 Mar 01 - 10:44 PM What some women don't know is that they shouldn't make broad generalizations. I could write a book on waiting. |
Subject: RE: BS: Tavern Rites of Spring 3 From: Peg Date: 31 Mar 01 - 10:35 PM well, I signed off for a bit and then could not get into the Mudcat for about two hours...home on a Saturday night, how pathetic is that for the goddess os love fer Pete's sake??? Actually I have a bad cold (missing a Dougie Maclean concert!) and am doing some work on the computer. Anyway, what experienced men have realized that younger greenhorns have not, is that some things are worth waiting for. ;) Ah well, buy me a drink, satyr? |
Subject: RE: BS: Tavern Rites of Spring 3 From: kendall Date: 31 Mar 01 - 10:31 PM He probably got tired of waiting.. |
Subject: RE: BS: Tavern Rites of Spring 3 From: Peg Date: 31 Mar 01 - 10:26 PM Hmm, you may be right, Kendall...but I know how to get back in his good graces, let's say. Hey, what happened to our boy sacrifice? |
Subject: RE: BS: Tavern Rites of Spring 3 From: kendall Date: 31 Mar 01 - 07:49 PM Dont piss him off Peg, no telling what he might do. Ever since Kronos passed away, he has been out of control. |
Subject: RE: BS: Tavern Rites of Spring 3 From: Matt_R Date: 31 Mar 01 - 07:36 PM Ah, yes...to quote Paul Brady "It's nothing but the same old story." Don't worry. I'm used to it by now. Off to the woods to be alone now. |
Subject: RE: BS: Tavern Rites of Spring 3 From: Peg Date: 31 Mar 01 - 07:25 PM Kendall; pay no mind. My father is the biggest bully of *all* the gods...why, here is a perfectly acceptable sacrifice and he has to muscle in and take him away from me and my girlfriend Morticia! Aphrodite (pouts and drinks more mead, getting peach lip gloss all over the goblet) But hey there, wandering minstrel, you look like you might be able to fill the bill...not a virgin, surely, but pure of heart perhaps? Desperate times...well you know the rest... |
Subject: RE: BS: Tavern Rites of Spring 3 From: kendall Date: 31 Mar 01 - 07:17 PM Daddy? Oh My, what is going on here? This would give a whole new meaning to the phrase "Rolling your own" |
Subject: RE: BS: Tavern Rites of Spring 3 From: Peg Date: 31 Mar 01 - 07:14 PM (Aphrodite purses her lips into a pout and whines) Daddy, you said *I* could have this one! |
Subject: RE: BS: Tavern Rites of Spring 3 From: GUEST,Zeus Date: 31 Mar 01 - 07:11 PM Step aside sonny, by Jove this is a job for an immortal. |
Subject: RE: BS: Tavern Rites of Spring 3 From: Matt_R Date: 31 Mar 01 - 07:08 PM Mario, there is a difference between kissing a girl and being kissed! Besides, it wasn't on the lips! |
Subject: RE: BS: Tavern Rites of Spring 3 From: MMario Date: 31 Mar 01 - 07:06 PM LIAR! I SEEN you be kissed! |
Subject: RE: BS: Tavern Rites of Spring 3 From: Matt_R Date: 31 Mar 01 - 07:01 PM Well I hath returned! Dear ladies, don't think I was ignoring you! I was at the NC Ren Faire today! Had lots of fun, met Mudcat's own Charcloth! We talked about pipes...lol. Sins, I'd like to think that I would be a cuddler, but I'm not sure. I've never touched, held hands, or even kissed a girl before... |
Subject: RE: BS: Tavern Rites of Spring 3 From: Peg Date: 31 Mar 01 - 06:53 PM *clink* Now let's us see if we can't find a suitable sacrifice, er, sailor, er, satyr, to buy us a round later on... |
Subject: RE: BS: Tavern Rites of Spring 3 From: Morticia Date: 31 Mar 01 - 06:44 PM best offer I've had tonight darling......mead it is and the first flagons on me! |
Subject: RE: BS: Tavern Rites of Spring 3 From: Peg Date: 31 Mar 01 - 06:20 PM Morticia... don't feel bad, even the goddess of love can't score tonight. Shall we adjourn and find a frosty flagon of mead to share? It's on me, dark sister... Aphrodite |
Subject: RE: BS: Tavern Rites of Spring 3 From: Morticia Date: 31 Mar 01 - 05:56 PM I see Matt hasn't taken me up on my offer.....too scared or too sensible,do we think? Still, leaves me with time on my hands and my toga fashionably disarranged....any reasonable offers welcome at this point. |
