Does anyone know the author of "lonesome river blues" ? Roy Acuff recorded it. Also, what about "Trials, Troubles, & Tribulations"? recorded by E.C. & Orna Ball, and by Maria Mauldaur. Thanks a heap.

You might draw a blank on this, Mulevaline. I've never seen Lonesome River Blues credited to anyone. As with so much of bluegrass, the composer doesn't seem to have achieved the same posterity as his (or her) tunes. Don't know the other one - bluegrass as well, presumably?

LONESOME OLD RIVER BLUES
Roy Acuff

1. You left me, baby, a year ago,
But I still love you. I'm mourning low.

CHORUS: Lord, I'm blue and so downhearted.
That lonesome old river's my home.

2. I bought you diamonds, fine clothes to wear.
Spent all of my money, but you don't care.

3. It's stormy weather. The sun won't shine.
If you don't love me, stay out of my mind.

4. It makes no difference where I may roam.
I'll always love you. Honey, come back home.

5. Going down to the river. Honey, don't you weep.
Going to drown my troubles where it's cold and deep.
