to Geordie Broon, that was quite an odd night at the Ducie, wasn't it! Terry said you have his album of the MacColl radio ballad with a song on for me to learn and if I asked you very nicely you would probably tape it for me?? Please - it is apparently a lament - could you do this for me, ta. Sue

Still recovering from a brilliant weekend. The concert was great, and the company too!
Sue, it was lovely to see you again, and I'm glad you are a mudcatter now. I'm still trying to settle into the role of "muse"?, "catalyst"? "starter"?- no, that makes me sound like wine yeast compound!!!!
Hope to see you all again soon.
Cheers, Bron.

Sue Very Good is a modest statement of your singing talents. Therefore I would keep Sue vG.! I hope you know that you are now on the slippery slope. Welcome to Mudcat!

The Data Base (DT) has 8500 songs inc many ballads. Happy searching.

Wishing you a long and fruitful membership. Cheers John

PS Ability to use exclamation marks is a great asset!

PS I couldn't think of a nick name, any suggestions?

For the direct link, click on http://www.folkworks.co.uk/Tours/Tours2.html>SHARPER THAN THE THORN.

I'll copy the first paragraph here:

SHARPER THAN THE THORN

Folkworks next national tour, from 30 March to 8 April, entitled SHARPER THAN THE THORN features four of our finest ballad singers in concert, bringing to life the great narrative songs of these islands: Martin Carthy, Alyth McCormack, Kevin Mitchell and Norma Waterson. Remaining concerts:

Newcastle on Tyne - 2 April (tonight)
Kendal
Leicester
East Grinstead
Ebbw Vale
Brighton
Basingstoke

Definitely recommended.

Noreen

Sharper than the Thorn is the title of the ballad concert provided by the above singers. Even if you are not particularly into ballads the singing is mesmerising.

The concert in Leeds last night was a sell out and the rest of the tour can be found on www.folkworks.co.uk Tour finishes 8th April.

Cannot recommend too highly. To a man (and woman) all ten of us (3 Catters) had a SUPERB night of stunning varied performances. Try to take in if you can.

Sorry no blicky. Cheers GB
