Subject: Waterboys - help with a title/lyrics..
From: Lidi

A couple of nights out in the pub I´ve been hearing the same song by the Waterboys over and over again...At least, that´s what I am told, that it´s the Waterboys..

Unfortunately, I can hardly hear what they are singing, but I think I kept hearing the word "gipsy". Anyway, the song is folkinspired when it comes to the music, and that´s not what I am used to when listening to Waterboys....

Maybe it´s not even The Waterboys who sing the song... Could someone please help me out here?

Sláinte

Lidi

Well, Lidi, the Waterboys (if it's them) might be singing more than one song with the word gypsy in it, but a web search finds that they sing a song titled "Raggle Taggle gypsy". You find it in the DT-database as "Wraggle taggle gypsy". The version the Waterboys are singing is found here. No idea whether this is what you are looking for. Wolfgang

i think the song you want is the 'raggle taggle gypsy' from the waterboys album 'room to roam'. as far as i know it's an old english song. the words are on the album cd booklet, but if you have trouble finding the album e-mail me and i'll send you the lyrics. the album catalogue number is ensign records ccd1768 regards niall lacey
