It's the first thread to which I posted. An elf had to fix the post because I had no clue how to post lyrics, and I still appreciate the assistance.

The song of love is a sad song, Hi lily, hi lily, hi lo The song of love is a sad song, Don't ask me how I know

End of what I remember but those are the first lines so it may help you find it.

The song is Hi Lily, Hi Lo from the movie, Lily, or something with Lily in it. The star was Leslie Caron, and Maurice Chevalier starred in it also. Great film and song. Youshould be able to find the movie in your public library, or classics section of a good video rental store. The song may be in Rise Up Singing, or a songbook with movie songs you could get out of the library.

My mom used to play this on our old Hammond organ; it was one the songs I had forgotten. Thank you for reminding me. (Mom definitely is responsible for my love of old songs).

The song of love is a sad song,
Hi lily, hi lily, hi lo
The song of love is a song of woe
Don't ask me how I know
The song of love is a sad song,
For I have loved and I know
I sit at the window and watch the rain
Hi lily Hi lily Hi Lo
And tomorrow I'll probably love again Cheers

By the way, the spelling is Hi Lili, not Lily.

And the name of the movie is also "Lili", but with Caron and Jean-Pierre Aumont and Mel Ferrer. The one with Chevalier is "Gigi." Something had put this same song in my head today, but I don't remember what it was.
