Subject: Boston Globe @ Paddy B's 8:30pm TONIGHT! From: GUEST,Judy Predmore Date: 11 Apr 01 - 09:41 AM I hear Scott Alarik from the Boston Globe will be covering the singers session at Paddy Burke's tonight, so we're starting way early at 8:30 pm. There is a Celtics game at the Fleet Center, so easy free parking isn't usually available until 9:30 or 9:45, (which is why we usually start around 9:45 - 10pm..) But the huge Heymarket garage, about 8 stories high I think, is across the street, & is far enough away from the Fleet Center, that it probably has plenty of parking available. Or you can just come at 9:45 if you hate parking garages... Paddy Burke's is at 132 Portland St, between the Fleet Center & Heymarket. It's perpendicular to Causeway St. (which is what the Fleet Center is on.) The North Station T stops are probably the closest. We have the whole 3rd floor to ourselves. It's very cosy, & when we have a good crowd, the energy is really high, so it should be a really great time! This is Barry Finn's stomping ground, so come there to be with him in spirit, & / or stop down the street at Mass General & say hi to him in person. Last I heard he was in the Blake Bldg. 6th floor, 55 Fruit St. You might want to call to confirm & check visiting hours, (most hospitals end at 8pm?) |

Subject: RE: Boston Globe @ Paddy B's 8:30pm TONIGHT! From: GUEST,Judy Predmore Date: 12 Apr 01 - 03:06 AM It sounds like the Boston Globe has a great new arts editor who's more community oriented, & interested in what all different people out there are doing for arts - not just the massive commercial arts. So look for an article by Scott Alarik in the Sunday April 22nd Globe (& on the web site Boston.com?) about the traditional unaccompanied singing going on at Paddy Burke's. We all had a great time. It was a shot in the arm, that got 11 of us to the pub on one night - a good number for us, these days... Murray, I'll say hi to Shay for you, next week... |
