I'm looking for definitive lyrics to "April Showers." I'd found several copies out on folks' websites, but I thought I'd come here and see what Mudcat had.

When I search on "april" nothing comes up for me. When I scroll through the As, I find "April, Come She may."

What's happening?

"April" and "April," are two different words to our search engine (because of existence/absence of comma). It's a problem, we know.

If you're looking for a "definitive" version of a folk/traditional song, you're going to be disappointed; no such thing, almost by definition.

search sometimes is a little funky depending on amount of traffic etc on the 'cat. the forum search comes up blank on "april" today too, but supersearch gives me a lot! April showers does NOT appear to be in the DT.

Though this appears as if it may be an "original" version.

Or do you mean the 'Drip, drip, drip, little April showers' from Bambi?

Bambi? No, Bombo!

APRIL SHOWERS
Words, B. B. De Silva. Music, Louis Silvers.
New York: Sunshine Music Co., 1921.
"Al Jolson's Hits in Messrs. Lee & J. J. Shubert's Production of The Musical Extravaganza Bombo."

1. Life is not a highway strewn with flowers;
Still it holds a goodly share of bliss.
When the sun gives way to April showers,
Here's the point that you should never miss:

CHORUS: Though April showers
May come your way,
They bring the flowers
That bloom in May;
So if it's raining, have no regrets,
Because it isn't raining rain, you know; it's raining violets.
And where you see clouds
Upon the hills,
You soon will see crowds
Of daffodils;
So keep on looking for a bluebird and list'ning for his song,
Whenever April showers come along.

2. I have learned to smile when skies are gloomy.
Smile although my heart's about to break,
When I know that trouble's coming to me,
Here's the happy attitude I take: CHORUS
