Subject: good place to record NY tri-state area?

I am looking for advice on a good place to record in NY tri state area. I aint working with a bottomless bank roll but I am willing to invest. I have recorded with electric band in the past but have never recorded with an acoustic band like I have at present, looking to make primarily live recording, with minimal dubbs. What I want is a room that lends itself to acoustics rather than sanatized studio atmosphere, and of course good mixing and a helpful productive work enviroment. Anyone in the area have anyplace you would reccomend? Thanks

Hi there guest DJH --

you should get in touch with Orrin Star -- his website is Click here

(hope I have that clicky thing right)

I have done 2 cds with Orrin -- one with Water Sign and the other with The Johnson Girls-- and several of my friends have done CDs with him. We picked him because of his acoustic-friendly studio -- and non sanitized studio atmosphere --

He's in Brooklyn -- and you can tell him I made the suggestion -- and parking is not bad.

I have also recorded with Orrin Star. I recorded my "Humor Me! album at his studio, have part way finished Volume 2 of "Rounds Galore and More", and have also recorded with him when I did cuts with Water Sign and Anne Price. He is a multi-talented musician, himself. That makes him very understanding of the needs of acoustic musicians. He also can offer musical advice, if you want it, and has a good feel for arrangements. He doesn't charge and arm and a leg, and creates a friendly atmosphere. Just click on the link in Joy Bennett's thread.
