Subject: Funny Pierce Turner song From: GUEST,JTT Date: 15 Apr 01 - 06:48 AM Someone played a really funny song by Pierce Turner on the radio today. It was called "Ah, sure Musha, God help her", and was in effect an extended gossip session ("that husband of hers down in Ballinahack with yer wan...") set to wailing Mexican horn backing. The effect is wonderful. But I can't find it online - anyone know what album it's on? |

Subject: RE: Help: Funny Pierce Turner song From: MARINER Date: 15 Apr 01 - 07:25 AM The song "Musha God Help Her" (Wexford Gossip)can be found on the live album "Manana in Manhattan" on Virtual Records. It can be found in it's original recording on the Beggars Babquet album "It's only a long way across"(1986). Other albums by Pierce Turner are; "Now is Heaven"(Beggars Banquet), The Sky And The Ground"(Beggars Banquet), "Angelic Language" and "Action" E.P.It is difficult to reccommend a Turner record if you havent heard him before. The man's a great songwriter and a tremendous performer.. If he's gigging anywhere within travelling distance, go to see him, you will not be disappointed and will probably be mightily immpressed. For first time listeners I suppose the best thing to do would be to get the "Best Of" album, but that still leaves many other classics to be checked out on his other albums. Oh , and Christy Moore also recorded "Musha"(as well as another Turner composition "Wicklow Hills"which I don't think did justice to the song) |
