Subject: RE: BS: Think of a name!!!!' From: ChaosCat Date: 16 Apr 01 - 02:05 PM I think it's nice to have a moniker for the place one dwells, sometimes silly, sometimes charming... we call my loft apartment "The Haven", and it seems to really have grown into it. How about Groove Palace? |

Subject: RE: BS: Think of a name!!!!' From: Ruthie A Date: 17 Apr 01 - 01:53 PM This has nothing to do with housenames (sorry), just asking... mousethief!!! have you actually read all the Redwall books too? I discovered them when I was eight and have been addicted to them since. However much I interrogated friends/foes/random people in libraries, I couldn't find somebody else who'd read them and enjoyed them. Wow! My life's purpose is fulfilled now. ANYWAY, I think the house should be called Fluffy, for the simply reason that it most probably isn't. Ruthie |
Subject: RE: BS: Think of a name!!!!' From: mousethief Date: 17 Apr 01 - 02:01 PM Ruthie! Actually the last one I read was Pearls of Lutra. I kind of gave up about 40 pages into The Long Patrol and haven't read or re-read any since. Mossflower is my absolute fave, and Gonff is my absolute favorite character. Alex |

Subject: RE: BS: Think of a name!!!!' From: Clinton Hammond Date: 17 Apr 01 - 02:23 PM Gael Force has been done, and even they changed it because it was too cheesy... Almost as bad as Celtic Cross... How about Windswept & Interesting? |
Subject: RE: BS: Think of a name!!!!' From: lady penelope Date: 17 Apr 01 - 08:32 PM Alternitively you could choose the name by taking your first pets' name and your nearest land mark. Ours would be SnowBall Cross. Just a thought. TTFN M'Lady P. |
Subject: RE: BS: Think of a name!!!!' From: GUEST,Roger the skiffler Date: 18 Apr 01 - 04:57 AM Herself thinks when we stop working in libraries we should call our house Dunlendin. The neighbours are probably hoping for Dunsingin. RtS |
Subject: RE: BS: Think of a name!!!!' From: Dave the Gnome Date: 18 Apr 01 - 06:26 AM Pets name and nearest landmark??? Ours would be F!"£ing stupid animal fire station! Doesn't work somehow.... I'm not sure about naming houses unless their is a reason to do so. I have already seen too many 1970's little boxes called Rivendell! If you must have a name hows about something completely stupid like Fobeth (FOur BEdroomed Town House) - it's novel and possibly the kind of silly thing competition organisers like - particularly if it is for marketing purposes. Have fun anyway Dave the Gnome |
Subject: RE: BS: Think of a name!!!!' From: Bernard Date: 18 Apr 01 - 06:39 AM Mine would be 'Lard Town Hall' Apparently when I trip over the cat I call it 'Cooking Fat'... |
Subject: RE: BS: Think of a name!!!!' From: Mr Red Date: 18 Apr 01 - 07:12 PM I called my house in Malvern (UK) "Isle of Dew" got divorced in it so it turned out to be prophetic, or was I tempting fate? (phonetic wordplay) Another house in Melbourne Close, in an area called Little Australia was dubbed "Inn Victoria". Vicki was amused - just. |

Subject: RE: BS: Think of a name!!!!' From: GUEST,2feathers Date: 18 Apr 01 - 10:02 PM A house is not a home. A house can be a thief; whenever you think you've fixed everything, something else pops up. My motherinlaw always said, A house is a "gonuf." (thief) But that's a sad name for a new house. "Loving Arms"? "Peaceful Haven" "Home for Good" |
