Big RiB,

We would have loved to see you & Marge. Will you be at Old Songs? We would like to attend the Get-Away, but don't know if finances will allow.

love,

We missed you sorely Roger. Marge too.

Though I would have loved the honor, 'spaw wasn't at my house. Bill and the boys met him in Ohio at Connie's, I believe. It was a thrill for Bill, because all the time I've known him, he's alway said the one Mudcatter he wanted to meet, was Catspaw. He always hoped 'spaw would make it to our gatherings. Well, he finally met him.

I hope to see you and Marge very soon.

Love, Annamill

I am so sorry I missed it. I had plans to come, but as sometimes happens, real life interferred. I see I missed my chance to meet Catspaw and to see bbc again. Life has to be lived one day at a time, but I hope there will be future gatherings I can attend.

Thank you so much for being there Karen! Finally.. I hope we get you down again.

The boys are leaving this morning and may very well have left already. When I called home they were in Glenn's music room 'jammin' with Glenn. At last.. he gets to play his drums, whew! Glenn had to leave for the store and the boys were to leave soon. I'm in NY right now. I'm going to sorely miss them. It was a wonderful break from our hurried lives. I actually got to enjoy the house a bit.

They are on the way to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania to see the Amish way of life.

Kisses and hugs and lots of love my friends.

Love, Annamill

As I write this I am listening to the cd Bridging the Gap by Bill, Sam and Ian. What a great time I had, seeing Bill again and meeting Sam and Ian. What wonderful, talented young men. As others have said I felt like I already knew both Sam and Ian having read posts by them and having seen their pictures on Mudcat. They were playing on Anna's deck out back as I arrived Saturday afternoon - a very nice welcome. I am truly in awe of the talent these young men so flawlessly display.

I very much enjoyed seeing Anna and Glenn (though only briefly as he spends 12 hours a day at their video store), Max and his delightful daughter, Bert, bbc and duane. Got a chance to chat a bit with Max which is always enjoyable. Bert fixed the winch that lowers Anna and Glenn's kyacks into the water, for which Anna was very grateful. Speaking of water, their house is right on the Shrewsbury River, a really beautiful location. I could get used to it real quickly. Also, speaking of kyacks, most of Saturday afternoon Ian begged to go kyacking to no avail. Finally Sunday morning Glenn took him out and he said he really enjoyed it. Sam had gone on Saturday morning.

Bill and Sam hope to get back over for the Getaway and I sure hope that happens. Ian won't be able to make it because he will be starting college and majoring in a new folk music degree. He said he'll be the 3rd student ever. How exciting for him. He will no doubt do extremely. This kid is so talented at 19 that it is scary to think what his future holds. The same goes for Sam who's 21. I have never been a fan of the accordian, until now. Boy can Sam play that thing, amazing.

The concert they did at the Attic Lounge in Sea Bright was really nice. I was able to tape it and it came out fairly well. Don't know if it's of the quality for Max to play on the radio show but when I get a chance I'll make a copy and send it on to him.

I finally had to leave late Sunday morning and as I was about to leave Anna wanted to show me something. They have a really nice telescope set up in the living room looking out at the river. Directly in front of the house about halfway out in the river there is a post with a platform on it. On the platform is an osprey's nest. When I looked through the telescope there was a mother osprey and a fairly good sized baby. Anna said that the mother was cleaning out the nest for the baby. What a neat sight.

Well, Bridging the Gap is over and I've now put in Bill's cd re-mastered and re-released from 1970. It's called Before the Beard Turned Grey. The cover photo was taken by Alice Flynn, one of Mudcat's own. So far I'm really enjoying it.

One last note, Gill and Mrs. Stephenson if you read this, please know that Sam and Ian are wonderful young men. They'd make anyone proud to have them for their sons. They are both well and having a wonderful time. We all wish that we could keep them here for a lot longer than two weeks.

I had a great time and those that didn't make it missed a fine time. Thanks Anna and Glenn. Can't wait for the next gathering.

k

I love this place. Blessings on Max, again.

And (don't tell my mother) for the FIRST TIME EVER, I regret moving so far down South. Hope y'all are considering a Southern tour next year!

I'm really glad you're enjoying it all safely and well.

PS - Max, will your daughter join us at the Getaway?!

Hi All,

I am back from Mystic and this is the first thread to read. Need to know how the boys are doing. It brings a tear to my eye to know there trip is going so well and that they are having such a good time. I miss them.

So, "Hi!" to the boys, and keep on trucking. I'm glad you are having such a great time. I wish my plans hadn't fallen through. If they hadn't I would have seen you again this morning.

Good morning, Geraldine! No, I suppose that Ian's clothes will still fit him fine. I doubt that most people who know him will even notice the difference. :) It was a real pleasure to meet 2 really fine young men--friendly, gifted musicians. Gill & Geraldine, I gave them both a wholehearted mom hug before I left last night. I think this trip will have had an amazing effect on them. To visit a country & stay in so many homes, meeting the people, & to find that you have already-made friends through the Mudcat connection. Ian's last words to me were "Mudcat rocks!" I agree.

love,

bbc (48 year old mom of 2 boys in NY)

Hi, all,

The boys have been without Internet access for the past couple of days. Anna doesn't have access at home now, only at her video store. Duane D. & I were able to join the group for the day today; we were at Anna & Glenn's from 11 am to 7 pm & had a really *lovely* time! Anna & Glenn are warm hosts. It was wonderful to see Bill again & great to meet Ian & Sam. They are all that others have said, in terms of both their playing & their neat personalities. Bert, Max & his daughter, & Karen K were there, too. Gill, Sam is looking good. I told him you needed to hear from him & he looked up the thread as soon as we arrived at the store today. Mrs. Stephensen, it seems that Ian is doing well enough that he is actually putting on a little weight! What a nice young man he is! Lorna, your boy is doing well, too, though he's looking a bit tired. Yes, Bill is occasionally eating, in addition to drinking tea. Rumor has it, he ate breakfast 3 days in a row! We had a good visit, heard some of the boys' music, & thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I pumped Max for information on Mudcat things I was curious about. We would have loved to stay for the concert tonight (9 pm-2 am--yikes!), but we have commitments at church tomorrow & had abandoned my 16 & 19 yr old at home. As usual when Mudcatters get together, it was very comfortable, like a continuing conversation between friends. I hope you will all have the opportunity to meet & greet at least some of the group in person; it's well worth the time!

best to all,

bbc

P.S.--In the driveway, we had cars from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, & Pennsylvania.

Duane D. & I are hoping to be there for the day, Saturday. He's been away the past few days, helping his mom w/ some chores, so I need to see how he's doing when he gets home tonight. I *could* spend the whole weekend doing end-of-the-year schoolwork, but I really think I need (& deserve) a break. The last few weeks have been pretty stressful. Besides, I really need to see Bill. :)

I think today's the day - any news of arrivals yet Annamills? It is so good that you give the trio such a warm welcome - and all the other friends too. I'll bet there won't be a lot of sleeping going on for a while.

About Sam's favourite food - I'd say it's whatever is on the go. Mind you - if you want to bring a homesick tear to his eye, whisper '422 bacon sandwiches' !

Sam - I could do with a virtual hug. Please put that darned contraption down for a minute or two and mail me!

Good wishes to all - Gill

Wish I could make it - it sounds like it's going to be a great time.

Annamill's house is big (lots of room for music and lounging), beautiful, right on the river, with a nice patio to sit on from which to watch the wildlife. There are enough bathrooms (loos). It has one floor and there are no steps, if I remember correctly. There is always an abundance of food and drink. Best of all, it's full of love.

VERY SOON! I cannot wait! I need my Mudcat fix! I don't have a computer at home any more because we moved it down to our new store and we don't have internet there yet. I cannot access my e-mail or anything else. I can read my PMs, but that's about it. I would have enjoyed listening th Ricks show. I hope it gets archived.

The weather sounds like it will be perfect for kayaking and fishing and music and drinking and eating and friends. We'll have to manuever(sp) our store hours around as one of us will have to be at the store at all times between the hours of 11am and 11pm.

On top of that, Glenn's band, the Jettyrats, have to, have to, mind you, play for the local Surfers Environmental Alliance on Sunday evening. They play every year, just about.

What a whirlwind weekend, this weekend!

Can't wait.. oh, I already said that.

Soon, guys!

The weather here is cool, but getting warmer and I hope the waether is warm enough to sit out on the deck and make music. I put myself in the houses across the river and imagine someone sitting in their kitchen or out on their deck and suddenly hearing beautiful music drifting across from the other side. How jealous I would be ;-)

We will have shrimp cocktail of course. I haven't decided yet what else to have. I want to make something special. We will have plenty to drink and eat.

I wish folk1234 was here to make that delicious beer stew he makes. Hmmm Hmmm!

I hope everyone can be there!

I'M BACK!! My video store is open and doing well. I have posters out for Saturday, June 9th in Sea Bright. My friend is putting an article in the local rag with the guys picture and bio. We are getting a good response and I thing it will go well. My computer is at the store and I don't have internet access there yet, so I've been kinda quiet.

Gathering at Annmill's June 9th. Everyone is welcome to come and stay and play. We need some Mudcatters to make an appearence at B,I,S's gig on Saturday night.

Write for details.

I have to get to work!

Love, annamill

Hello everyone. It's getting close to the opening of my video store and I'm a wreck. There is so much to do and so little time to do it. We got our sign yesterday and it's pretty nice. Not exactly as I imagined it, but close.

I'm looking forward to June and some wonderful music and friends. I hope everyone can be there. That's getting close too. Time seems to be moving so fast.

See ya all soon. Love, annamill

Anna,

I will check with Marge and see if we can make it. I'm sure it will be a good time no matter who shows besides Bill, Sam, and Ian.

And for those who have never been to a Mudcat gathering, I encourage you to come. Anna and her hubby are wonderful hosts. People are encouraged to bring food, but Anna provides as well. Her house is on the water of a broad river. It's so close that while sitting on her patio, you would think you were on the water.

I have not met a Mudcatter at these gatherings who has not been a decent person. I may not all like everyone, but we do get along.

Being a part of these gatherings requires no musical talent. You can play and sing if you want, but you are welcome to just listen or conversate.

Anna's gatherings are a great place to meet some people you have only known through cyberspace. I'm not at home, so I can't check my schedule and confirm, but if I can be there I will be there.

Roger in Baltimore

Usually I'm all over Mudcat with gathering info, but we had such good stuff going on over in PA (wish I was there) that I didn't want to intrude.

BUT NOW I'M BACK!!!

Everyone's invited. Food, music, friends and something new this time... a gig on Saturday night. Any money goes to the trio, but we'd sure love to have some Mudcatters come and jam. The weather should be perfect for kayaking, fishing, or just layin' out on the hammock.

The deck is just made for music. The sound going out over the water is going to be great. Maybe the dolphins will be back by then and come over for a listen.

If you don't have directions, please email me. I'm in the resources. Or PM if you'd prefer.

Can't wait. Love, annamill

I'm sure it only seems funny to me, but I'm fascinated by all these people that are going to be in Keene, and when it's going to be...

Hi, Bill. Thanks for the Keene info. Unfortunately the 3rd won't work for me. Darn. Really look forward to seeing you at Anna's at least and meeting Sam and Ian. Hey, any chance that Sam could bring some Cockersdales cd's as well?

karen
