Subject: RE: Mr. Hartford ill From: GUEST,CHANCE SHIVER (FORTUNATO) Date: 21 Apr 01 - 08:05 AM Thank you, Art, for the news and address. I will send a card. Some years back Doc Scantlin's Red Hot Peppers played the Newport News City Festival. We went on just before John Hartford. Before the show we chatted briefly with him. He was very warm and genuine. He spent a good bit of time with our banjo player, Terri Scantlin, teaching and sharing. In case he checks in here, John I wish you a speedy recovery. Your music has been a joy in my life and the lives of millions. Chance |

Subject: RE: Mr. Hartford ill From: Tedham Porterhouse Date: 20 Apr 01 - 04:51 PM John's been ill for a while now. A couple of years ago, he told me that, illness or not, he was determined to carry on as long as possibly could. I'll certainly be praying that he'll be able to keep on carrying on as for a long time yet. |

Subject: RE: Mr. Hartford ill From: annamill Date: 20 Apr 01 - 04:43 PM I love John and have played his album "Steam Powered Areoplane" until the grooves on each side touched each other. I saw him at a bluegrass festival in Rhode Island and was beside myself. (both of us were applauding) I hope he gets well. Love, annamill |

Subject: Mr. Hartford ill From: Art Thieme Date: 20 Apr 01 - 03:29 PM Folks, John Hartford has been in a Nashville hospital since about the 8th of April. He returned home from a Texas gig with double pneumonia. Cards and best wishes can be sent to Box 443--Madison, TN 37116. I talked to his wife, Marie, this morning. For some reason, John's hands are numb now and that has curtailed his picking for the time being. I know so many of his fans and friends will want to send good vibes and best wishes in the Hartford family's direction. Art Thieme Zip code corrected, per Art's message below. --JoeClone
