Now THAT brings back memories......I recall (through some kind of "haze") a song about a mountain....it being something that "you don't want to f*** with"?.....Is it real, or just a bad memory???

Basketball Jones was in fact by Cheech and Chong. They credit it "Tyrone Shoelaces." I seem to recall that the band that performed it included some very famous Rock stars, I even think that George Harrison may have been on it, although it was a long time ago and I could be wrong.

Their other big song was "Earache My Eye", a classic.

Pixie, you're remembering "Billy the Mountain," by Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention. It was on the "Just Another Band from L.A." album.

"Billy was a mountain. Ethel was a tree growing off of his shoulder......."

Great song . . . took up a whole side of the album (back in the vinyl days).

Yep. I have it on CD here at my house. It was on the kids film Space Jam and that's where I got the tune from on the soundtrack.

Basketball Jones I got a basketball I got a basketball jones oh baby oooohh oooohh oooooooooh.

The first and only time I heard it (I think) was as the soundtrack for an animated short film that was being shown before the main attraction at an art house movie theater many, many years ago.

Back in those days I also saw Mel Brooks' animated short, "Thank you Masked Man" and "Bambi meets Godzilla". Anyone else ever see thes animated shorts?
