Hello all. I'd like to try "l'accord du pieds" that French Canadian fiddlers do - clogging out a complex rhythm during seated playing (or at least complex compared to the foot tapping you usually see).

On the fiddle-l list I found two descriptions of ways to clog a reel, which I will copy below. If anyone knows other ways that Quebecers tap a reel, or what the patterns are for other kinds of tunes, I'd appreciate knowing them.

Reel, version one:

1. Left toe.
2. Right toe, or whole right foot.
3. Left heel, with extra emphasis.
4. Rest.

Reel, version two:

1. Right food, with emphasis.
2. Left heel.
3. Left toe.
4. Rest.

Marion

Hi

I often do this in any reel where it fits, only I play the piano Accordion and live in England, but it works for me!!

I asked Michael Bordeau from La Bottine how he does it and he said to do it "any wany that works for you" so that was good enough for me.

My stepping is:

Right toe Left Toe Right foot stamp (heel & toe together) ***repeat this***

It seems odd doing two steps with the right foot but it works for me!

Cheers, Sam

I'm definitely into this 'food' with emphasis!:) You'll have to show me how this tapping goes Sam.
