Subject: More verses on Ye Jacobites By Name?
From: QRS
Date: 12 Oct 99 - 11:23 AM

I must ask you all mudcatters:

Anyone who knows of more than those three verses?

They are

1.What is right and what is wrong..
2.What makes heroic strife..
3.Then let your schemes alone..

anyone?

Regards

QRS

Complete, except you left out the well known first verse. All but the first verse are by Robert Burns (The Scots Musical Museum, #371) Only the 1st verse of Burns' version is from the original song of 1746, which is in the Scarce Songs 1 file at www.erols.com/olsonw

Remember, they are two quite different songs, with only one verse in common.

I have the lyrics for this but really need the chords. I've found them in ABC format, but I don't know how to read it. Does anyone have the chords for this? Thanks.

Search this forum for 'ABC'. It's easy and you can write it out on music paper, or get the tune printed out with ABC2WIN

Not very fancy but maybe a framework for your own enhancements. Good luck

Original with me:

Oh, has your fami-ly tried Powdered Milk, Powdered Milk?
Oh, has your fami-ly tried Powdered Milk?
If your family has tried 'em,
You know it satisfied 'em,
Like not too many others of that ilk, of that ilk,
Li-ike not too many others of that ilk.

After singing, dodge either a lawsuit from Mr. Keillor, or an entire salad's worth of sundry vegetables. :)

I remember this one being introduced by Ian MacCalman as a "Jacobean ear swapping song".
