This is my transcription. I have verified that all the place-names in this transcription actually exist, and are correctly spelled, except the ones that are marked with (?), which I can't identify.

UP MAYO
As sung by Men of Worth on "A Winter's Carol" (2006)*

1. [Line in Irish?]
Something is startin' in the same old way.
All the Langdons, and the Cartys, the Byrnes and the Kilcoynes
In every townland and village from Blacksod to Ballindine.

A new king comes to Connacht; I'll have you all know
You're goin' someplace special when you're goin' up Mayo.

2. From Balla to Ballintubber, Charlestown to Toone(?),
In the peaceful parts of Partry(?) where your heart can find some room,
All the young lads are off workin; the farmers are on the dole.
Drive a tractor through the rushes, toppin' thistles as she goes.

Welcome here to Connacht; I'll have you all know
You're goin' someplace special when you're goin' up Mayo.

3. I fell in love goin' up Croagh Patrick with a young girl who came from Boyle.
I got scattered in Claremorris, sobered up in Ballycroyle(?).
Now, you'd miss her in the evenin' since Maureen moved away.
She's got a big old job in Frisco town and she's doin' very well, they say.

Welcome here to Connacht; I'll have you all know
You're goin' someplace special when you're goin' up Mayo.

4. We were brought up with the question: what will the neighbours say?
God loves a tryer, so the wise old people say.
For the boys and girls in Kilburn or Cleveland, Ohio,
Let your hearts of gold take you home to the green fields of Mayo.

Welcome here to Connacht, I'll have you all know
You're goin' someplace special when you're goin' up Mayo,
Wherever you go.

* Men of Worth recorded a somewhat different version of UP MAYO on "Culmore" (2006). Lines 3-4 of verse 3 have this:

Oh, you miss him in the evenin' since ...(?) went away
He's got a brand-new cart-horse an' barrow; he's doing very well, they say.

Other differences are minor.
