Hi, I'm still looking for the written music for this tune. I've searched around the usual sites and no luck. Does anyone have it out there? Roger, are you still looking? Thanks! Al

Did you check with George Seto, as Roger suggested?  I have staff for the Scottish set published by Alfred Moffat, but I don't know how close it is to the Cape Breton version that Áine posted in the original thread on this song: certainly there are differences in the text, though they are not enormous ones and I would imagine that the tunes are pretty close.  If you can't get it elsewhere, I can do you a copy.

I can't find the copy I have. It was published in a Scottish book of Gaelic songs. I don't read music so I don't know if it is the same as the tune that Mary Jane sings. I'll be seeing her next Friday, and maybe she has something I can get for you guys.

There's another set in Bruce Campbell's Orain nan Gaidheal (vol 2, Gairm, 1989) which I had forgotten about; textually it overlaps the Moffat set and the one posted by Áine, but the melody is given in Tonic Sol-Fa, which is a system I've never got to grips with, so I can't tell if it's different or not.

Failte Alex, if you are interested I wrote out this melody as I listened by Mairi Brennan with the Chieftains. You can download the PDF file at this URL:
