Hello. I was wondering if anyone could help me track down a year or other information relating to a piece of sheet music I recently acquired. It is titled "Love's Harvest". On the sheet music is the following information...

- Song with violin & cello obbligato, ad lib.

Sung by - Mr. Henry Guy Words by - Lindsay Lennox Music by T. Capel Seary (composer of the famous song "Two Comrades")

London: D. Wilcock, 13 Imperial Arcade, Ludgate Hill, EC. -

I found this a bit over a week ago, and I'm trying to get information about this piece and T. Capel Seary. If anyone can give me some information, I'd be grateful. Thank you, and have a pleasant evening.

Tried a google search on the name in question, came up blank.

"Lindsay Lennox Music" brought up nothing either.

"Henry Guy" fetched 800 results, but I don't know what I'm looking for. If someone else has the patience to paw through 800 webpages, go here for the results page.

Other than that, as this was next to drop off, I'll also refresh.

M

I found your query whilst searching for info on T. Capel Seary -- sorry you've had to wait so long for a reply! http://www.headington.org.uk/oxon/mayors/1836_1962/seary_john_1895.htm has a reference to the birth of Thomas Capel Seary in 1850. His father was an outfitter for the clergy of England, and this would fit in with a title like "Love's harvest", or the work I have seen which was a violin arrangement of Seary's tune "March St. Olave", which has the inscription "Dedicated to the members of St. Olave's Musical Society" -- presumably connected with a church, although possibly a local area in England. I estimate the arrangement was published in the 1890s. Hope this helps!

no luck with Henry Guy. Lindsay Lennox was a tunesmith for popular songs in the 1880s-1890s, and his work was published usually by W. Paxton & Co in London. He also wrote lyrics with music, and lyrics that were set to music by others, e.g. "The faded rose" lyrics by Lindsay Lennox ; music by Alois Volkmer.
