But soon it will no longer be allowed, will it, Mr Blair..... we'll have to be weighed in Kilos, and that would make me 92. I don't like the sound of that!!!

It took me a long time to become totslly st home with the American system of poundage, and even now I have to convert mentally, sometimes. But I think I prefer weighing in at 200lbs rather than 14stone 4lbs. Can't say why, really ............

That worked, Liz. click here for the thread Liz posted them in. And Joe was half right, it's a parody on the Sixteen Ton song.

I assume its about being fat, "You weigh sixteen stones" or something like that. But since it's "stones" rather than "pounds", it can't be about Americans, so if anyone's got the words they needn't be shy about posting them...

I can never work out how much people weigh when they guive it in pounds, because I never learned my 14 times table. As for kilos, I'm completely lost once you get higher than 1 or two kilos.

Hey, Snuffy, did you think I didn't know that? I didn't just fall off the turnip truck, ya know...

My point was, it's easier to find a song if we know more about it than just the title. Can I help it if my attempt at humor flopped miserably??

That's sixteen TONS, Joe. Sixteen stone is what you Americans would call 224 pounds.

Hi, Abuwood - Unually, it's best if you can tell us what you recall of the lyrics of the song, not just the title. Titles can be profoundly confusing. First thing I thought of was:
You load sixteen stone, and what do you get,
Another day older and deeper in debt
Saint Peter don't you call me, 'cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the company store
That's not it, is it? [grin] Well, I think Mudcatter Liz the Squeak sings a song called "Sixteen Stone." I'll send her a personal message and ask her to check this thread. Check the thread a few times in the next few days to see if she replies.
