Subject: Jed, Karen and Ed in Phoenix From: DougR Date: 14 May 01 - 02:08 PM They arrived in Phoenix Saturday afternoon, and after dinner at my home we went to "The Fiddler's Dream," a coffee house that for the past fifteen years has been devoted to presenting accousic music peformers to audiences. Jed and Eammon's Kitchen did a three hour (almost) set, and they did a terrific job. After, they and several of my friends returned to my home (one of the friends is a world-class fingerpicker, and they all jammed until the wee hours of the morning. Jed and my friend, Todd Halliwell, played until 2:30am when Jed announced he had to get some sleep. The gang got up at 5:00 A.M. and left for Albuquerque at 5:00 A.M. in order to play a 2:00 P.M. gig. A great time was had by all. |

Subject: RE: BS: Jed and Eammons Kitchen in Phoenix From: DougR Date: 15 May 01 - 04:41 PM Just a report, WYSIWYG. A report on a group of Mudcatters on the road. I thought their fellow Mudcatters might be interested. That's all. DougR |

Subject: RE: BS: Jed and Eammons Kitchen in Phoenix From: DougR Date: 15 May 01 - 10:11 PM I sure wish more 'Catters could have been here! You would have loved it, I think, Lonesome EJ. Jed and Todd jammed and jammed, and we all marveled at so much talent crammed into two people. This was after Karen and Ed had hit the sack. Karen jammed beautifully on the fiddle too, until she very sensibly decided to join Ed, who was the smartest of the whole group. He went to bed and got some sleep! If Mudcatters were willing, it is conceivable that more mudcat performers could make mini-tours similar to the one Jed and Eammons Kitchen did. If Mudcatters in each city would open their doors (and beds) to them, it likely would be more feasible for them to get out and about. DougR |

Subject: RE: BS: Jed and Eammons Kitchen in Phoenix From: guinnesschik Date: 16 May 01 - 09:50 AM So true, Doug, and again thanks so much. It's expensive to travel, and we did it on a shoestring! I was so impressed with Fiddler's Dream. Every town should have one. Although I dearly love playing for rowdy pub crowds, it's so very nice to have folks who are actually listening, and NOT waiting for you to play "Whiskey In The Jar." (Although, sometimes I eagerly await it, as well...) |

Subject: RE: BS: Jed and Eammons Kitchen in Phoenix From: DougR Date: 16 May 01 - 01:55 PM Alas, I'm sorry to report that there were no pictures to memorialize the event. I took my camera to the performance, but it wouldn't cooperate for some reason (it probably was assembled by a Democrat). :>) DougR |
