I thought that two others did that song. Jerry Collona (Sp) and Merv Griffin Neil

Thanks, Snuffy - You caught my mistake. I found the song in a songbook today and corrected the lyrics. Click here.

howdy all -

I was wondering if anybody could help me with a date for a Decca 78 i have - it's Danny Kaye with orchestra conducted by Vic Schoen..on one side is 'I've got a lovely bunch of cocoanuts' and on the other side is a song called 'the f_ _ _ ny bush'(can't quite make it out) attributed to Meredith Willson.
If any one has any info on this, i'd greatly appreciate it - I'm trying to figure out if it'd be appropriate for a WWII display.

Thanks -

Seth

That's not as easy a question to answer as you might think, Seth. Look up top at the crosslinked threads, and you'll see that we couldn't determine if the copyright date of the song was 1944 or 1948. The All-Music Guide says Kay introduced the song on his radio show, which begand broadcasting in 1945 - so maybe the song WAS recorded in 1945.
Good luck.

The record i have was made between 1947 and 1950, judging by the record number. This info is from

I remember world famous jazz guitarist, Lenny Breau, singing this as a little boy on his father's show.

In the UK, Alan Breeze of the Billy Cotton Band sang this. I guess late 1940's
