I'll get there next year maybe, I wasn't up to it straight from Sidmouth.

.

I'm glad to hear Simon Vogel (of Harlow of course)went down well. He's a good lad.

Here are a couple of his Ruthless Rhymes:

Last Saturday, my uncle Fred
Drove off the cliff at Beachy Head.
A lovely weekend it did mar
My cigarettes were in his car.

I was most distressed when Mabel
Died while st the dinner table.
Looking at those emoty eyes
Almost put me off my fries.

Ian,
Simon was great. He didn't miss a Travelling Folk gig all week.

It was great to meet you Jon. A smashing gig at the Concert Marquee.

I saw Dead Horse around a lot but never got to play with him. What am I saying???????
Weather was dry and hot and sunny most of the week. The best Broadstairs in years. Pity so many of you missed it.

It was lovely, after Sidmouth, to find a festival where the organisers didn't try to screw the last penny out of you. I'll go back next year even if I'm not booked but I don't think Sidmouth 2002 will be a priority even if it is bigger.

We'll look forward to seeing you, then (except Ian, of course - coming to the next session (29th, I think. sorry we didn't make this week....)?). Tam Lin is playing in the main tent, one of the pubs (Admiral something???), & running some workshops. DEFINITELY look forward to seeing some of you there!
SueH

Hi!

Look out for my mate Simon Vogel, who's "Poet in Residence" this year.

;-)

Back from Sidmouth, a bit earlier than expected. Fewer people there than usual. The weather was wet! wet! Wet! A bit like Lamorna.
Kent has obviously booked all the sunshine.

Everyone I know on the folk scene (that makes 6 then,) is going to Broadstairs - look out for the poet Ken Latham, Avril & Sue (singing as Suave), Mike Wood (blues guitar) etc. etc. - all regular members of the Deal Folk Club, Of course it helps when you only have to travel 2-3 miles to the festival!!

The eskimos have 83 different words for snow. People in Broadstairs have 6,534,289.

Little known fact for you there Jim.

Off to Sidmouth early tomorrow. Heading for Broadstairs on 10th August. See you all there guys. Look for the bartowel coat round the town or at Travelling Folk gigs.
I can be found at the dragon flag on the campsite. See you all there having fun, fun, fun in the sun.

Yeah! Triality is great entertainment but the volume is too loud for me. I'm one of those standing outside listening and heckling. See you there?

Yep! I'll be there.. as will most of the Deal Folk Club and various others in the area. I don't perform unless you count drinking loads and falling over. I never miss Triality but the pub is so packed that it takes half an hour to get served! However, the advantage is that you can't fall over!

Hi Murray.
The cookie in my machine obviously has a glitch somewhere. I've corrected it umpteen times but with no luck so far. I bet I'm a Guest again tonight because I've just signed on and haven't checked my status yet.
I'll do Wad Ye Gan Love for you so that your song will visit Broadstairs even if you can't.
Next time you're in UK come and visit us all down in Seaford.

I wish. I have heard so many tales of Broadstairs Festival from mutual friends, I would love to be there. Are you still playing the Martin backpacker, btw, Mary? And why are you a "Guest" ?????

Broadstairs festival is from August 10th to 17th, between Sidmouth and Whitby weeks.
I'm looking forward to a week of Sun, sand and real ale with great music in Kent.
Are there any other Mudcatters going? Maybe we can get together somewhere and sing, play and chat?
