My SO claims to have heard a version of "The Blacksmith", which has the lyrics of the last line of the first verse as "And if I were with my love, I would rue it never."
Has anyone got a source for this variant, as I have searched in vain.
love, john.

Never heard that, John- sounds like maybe someone with a personal axe to grind? :0)

(There are two versions of this song in the DT, both of which say I would live forever.
