One thing you might like to try would be typing the words dark lochnagar into the very useful "Digitrad and Forum Search", which is quite prominently displayed on the main Forum page.  This will get you the text as originally written by Lord Byron, and other useful links too.

Fabulous song!

You can get it (as Lachin Y Gair) on John McDermott's "Old Friends" CD.

Other great songs on that album include "The Massacre of Glencoe".

The music that fits Byron's Lochnagar sounds 19th Century to me. Of course it could be an arrangement of older tunes. I would like to hear what Malcolm Douglas says about it. The same old lp, The Tartan, sung by Kenneth McKellar, that had Mo Mary (see thread of the last three days) also has Lochnagar. All of these old McKellar renditions are available on an import 2cd Decca set.
