Subject: RE: Mudcats at Mystic Sea Music Festival? From: Charley Noble Date: 23 May 01 - 12:52 PM I'll be there pretending I know something about running a sound board, and looking forward to late night singing and jamming. |
Subject: RE: Mudcats at Mystic Sea Music Festival? From: Rick Fielding Date: 23 May 01 - 01:36 PM Great memories for me. Unbelievably appreciative audiences, great sound systems, and a chance to share a stage with Roy Harris(!!). Slept on a whaler for the first (and probably last) time as well. It's a great festival. Subject: RE: Mudcats at Mystic Sea Music Festival? From: katlaughing Date: 23 May 01 - 01:52 PM Naes, wave to the workers across the street at Seaport Software, willya? That's where my son-in-law works.:-) Really wish I was going to be there. |
Subject: RE: Mudcats at Mystic Sea Music Festival? From: Liam's Brother Date: 23 May 01 - 02:42 PM Well, Naemanson, you may know my wife, Bonnie Milner of The Johnson Girls. Bonnie has attended EVERY Mystic Sea Music Festival! Her group, I understand will be opening the Saturday night concert. Bob Conroy and I will be in Liverpool fufilling a long-time dream. At the same time Bonnie and The Johnson Girls are hooting it up at Mystic, we will be performing in the main concert at The Mersey Shanty Festival. Have a great weekend and give us all a full report afterwards.
All the best,
|
Subject: RE: Mudcats at Mystic Sea Music Festival? From: Naemanson Date: 23 May 01 - 05:32 PM Yeah, Dan, I am acquainted with you and Bonnie but I have never had the nerve to introduce myself. I don't like to bother the rich and famous... ;-) Seriously, I am looking forward to the party and singing the Pump Shanty with the Johnson Girls. We sing slightly different versions in slightly different styles but it shouldn't be too difficult to put it all together. |
Subject: RE: Mudcats at Mystic Sea Music Festival? From: Susan of DT Date: 23 May 01 - 07:19 PM Dick and I will be there. |
Subject: RE: Mudcats at Mystic Sea Music Festival? From: Liam's Brother Date: 23 May 01 - 09:49 PM That's funny! A bit of thread creep here but... do you know how Barry Finn is? I'll miss him if he appears at Mystic so I wanted to go up to Portsmouth for Bill Sables & Co. on June 1st. Any chance he'll be there?
All the best, |
Subject: RE: Mudcats at Mystic Sea Music Festival? From: SINSULL Date: 23 May 01 - 09:52 PM I hope to see Barry at the Shanty Sing in ortland this weekend. I fhe is there, I will point him to this thread. Big "IF" on mystic...family stuff. Mary |
Subject: RE: Mudcats at Mystic Sea Music Festival? From: Jeri Date: 23 May 01 - 10:13 PM I seem to have read something about Barry's computer needing a software transplant or something. I don't remember him saying anything recent about the party or the shanty sing. Dan - I'll send you directions to the Portsmouth session tomorrow night. |
Subject: RE: Mudcats at Mystic Sea Music Festival? From: Barry Finn Date: 24 May 01 - 10:27 PM Hi Jeri, how'd you know that my computer needed a transpant, actually it's luck ran out & it simply went into total failure, had to go & get a new one, just got it up & running today. Now as for me the up & running isn't a sure thing, I'm still on a day by day schedule, hoping to make the shanty sing & Fri night in Portsmouth with Liam's Brother & Bill & Sun at Bat Goddess's but it'll be really great if in truth I can make one of them. Mystic's still to far off to tell, though & may be able to make it for a Sat (plus evening). We're thinking that Old Songs may be a sure thing so we're making a move as to weither or not to go ahead & send in our money. I guess this all means that I don't know what the hell I'll be making it to, so my best to you all & I can only hope that I'll see you soon. LOL, Barry |
Subject: RE: Mudcats at Mystic Sea Music Festival? From: Peter Kasin Date: 25 May 01 - 03:02 AM Newish Mudcat member Windlass1 will be there. |
Subject: RE: Mudcats at Mystic Sea Music Festival? From: Naemanson Date: 25 May 01 - 06:02 AM Well, Windlass 1, look us up when you get there. I'll be wearing a red carnation and... Well, maybe you should look for the Mudcat T-shirt. Plus my Mudcat name will be on my badge as well as my real name. |
Subject: RE: Mudcats at Mystic Sea Music Festival? From: dick greenhaus Date: 25 May 01 - 10:45 AM I'll be there wearing a MUdcat Tee-shirt, with some more shirts for sale if anyone wishes to be recognized as a Mudcatter. |
Subject: RE: Mudcats at Mystic Sea Music Festival? From: radriano Date: 25 May 01 - 11:51 AM Wish I was going. I don't suppose there's a fund anywhere for aging, disabled, somewhat competent shanty singers that want to attend festivals that are on the opposite coast that they're living on? Hope a good time is had by all. |
Subject: RE: Mudcats at Mystic Sea Music Festival? From: John J Date: 25 May 01 - 12:07 PM Sounds like a hell of a good do, but if were to set out now to cross the pond in my Mirror dinghy I might just make it for next year's bash! Have a good stamp and go for me. John (Manchester, England) |
Subject: RE: Mudcats at Mystic Sea Music Festival? From: Just another Dave Date: 27 May 01 - 11:18 AM Hi All !! I really hate to see this thread languish over a holiday weekend, so in the interest of refreshing the topic... BTW I will be in attendance at this year's festival as well. One new twist, though, for me this year is that after spending a dozen or so years as a volunteer, I will be performing. I have been a user of the DT since before it was here at Mudcat. And I'll have to admit that I don't post messages very often -- but I do lurk pretty regularly. The info I have assimilated here over the years has been priceless :-) Thanks to all. And I look forward to shaking a few hands at the festival. Dave De Angelis |
Subject: RE: Mudcats at Mystic Sea Music Festival? From: Charley Noble Date: 27 May 01 - 11:49 AM Congratulations, Dave! Avoid Charley Noble as your soundman. |
Subject: RE: Mudcats at Mystic Sea Music Festival? From: Marc Date: 28 May 01 - 11:00 AM Well folks, I'll certainly look forward to seeing every one here. Although I've not been on the Chanty staff for some years now, they still let me perform from time to time. Dick G., just a word of caution, be carefull selling t's at the Seaport, they do frown on that. Someone allready read your post and has commented. |
Subject: RE: Mudcats at Mystic Sea Music Festival? From: Charley Noble Date: 06 Jun 01 - 01:44 PM Time to refresh; this one is coming up this week-end. I'll be there bright and early, and leaving bleary-eyed and several sheets in the wind! |

Subject: RE: Mudcats at Mystic Sea Music Festival? From: dick greenhaus Date: 06 Jun 01 - 06:54 PM Marc- There's no Tee-shirt booth envisioned. Just a selection in the back of the station wagon for anyone who asks. |
Subject: RE: Mudcats at Mystic Sea Music Festival? From: Barry Finn Date: 06 Jun 01 - 08:42 PM I'll be there for at least Saturday, hopefully I can make it as far as the wee morning hrs. but I haven't been able to plan, this would be my first attemp at a full (& maybe night) days dose of the good stuff (music). Anyway, it'll be great to see & hear you all. 63 hrs & counting. Barry |

Subject: RE: Mudcats at Mystic Sea Music Festival? From: Naemanson Date: 08 Jun 01 - 08:21 AM It's Mystic Weekend! Let the cannons fire, the trumpets blare, and all the people cheer! The sun shines forth and happiness dances in the streets. Can you tell that I enjoy going to Mystic? Am I too obvious in my anticipation of a great weekend? Charley Noble and I pull out of here around noon time and then I will be in heaven until I pull back into the dooryard late Sunday. Monday will be spent in rest and recuperation. Joy, let's see if we can do the Pumping Shanty at some point. You guys do the same verses we do but in a completely different order. If we aren't careful we could totally mess each other up. |
Subject: RE: Mudcats at Mystic Sea Music Festival? From: Charley Noble Date: 08 Jun 01 - 09:27 AM With Blue Peter flying from the antenna, Naemanson and myself will soon be plowing them bounding billows from Maine to Mystic. What joy! Looks like the weather's gonna be great all weekend. Have to make the appropriate toasts to that great Thunder God. Now if I only find my list? Heave that donkey's breakfast in the van! Hoist up the top sheet and spanker! Slip the cable, we're on the way, won't be back for many a day! It's time for us to Roll & Go, there's fire down below, boys, there's fire down belowww! |
Subject: RE: Mudcats at Mystic Sea Music Festival? From: Naemanson Date: 08 Jun 01 - 10:17 AM This should be an interesting trip. Charley's all fired up (down?). |
Subject: RE: Mudcats at Mystic Sea Music Festival? From: MMario Date: 08 Jun 01 - 11:07 AM Have a good time guys - I'm only gonna make it as far as vermont... |
Subject: RE: Mudcats at Mystic Sea Music Festival? From: Just another Dave Date: 13 Jun 01 - 04:52 PM Thanks all for the kind words. Sorry I was not able to post earlier -- but I attended the infamous "Survivors Party" at the Griz on Monday night -- and went back for a second dose on Tuesday to play during Finest Kind's (Don Sineti, Bill Wallach, Gary Buttery) break -- so this is the first chance I've had to get at the computer. I had a great time -- thanks to all who gave their time to put on what is undoubtedly the finest festival of it's kind -- And thanks to all who contributed by attending. And thanks to Margaret McCandless who performed with me at the Family Show. The biggest drawback to performing is that it is very difficult to see the other workshops. I missed the entire Saturday night concert because I was jamming with Spencer, Glover, Yuhas, Ipcar, Milner, Christensen and others in the YTB. Then, I missed the Saturday night session at the Galley -- word has it that Liam remarked that it was the best session he'd been to in his LIFE !!!. I'm sorry I missed it -- but I'm glad that I was well rested for Sunday. Barry, it was great to see you up and about. Sorry we didn't get to chat. Dave De Angelis |
