Is it your fault if you cant remember doing it?
Be it falling when drunk or crashing your scooter (like I did) or any thing else silly you've done (like Falling out of Caravans). Of course its never really your fault.
Mother or should I say Mrs Duck has been getting rather annoyed with me since Monday when I some how managed to have my first major accident, only thing is I dont know what happened. If he hit me or I hit him! So in theory I think I'm in the right there for I am.
but is it that simple Natasha

Blame it on "shock" and move on. Or better yet - tell Mom you were distracted by a naked billboard picture of her put up by gargoyle.

Well it WAS rather silly to decide that the correct time to scare the sh.. out of her by her getting a phone call from the hospital on Monday after the weekend she had already had! I hope you didn't come to any drastic harm Tasha.
I know what you mean. We all get accused of things we can't remember. Last week I was supposed to have squeezed a boy in a class I was teaching and I can't remember even touching him. It's just something we have to learn to cope with.
Sometimes the memory will eventually return, if not you have to write it off.

I don't remember being hit by a truck, but I don't remember anything from about 5 minutes before until hours later. That was shock. The way I know it wasn't my fault is the testimony of witnesses.

I'm with your mom. If you were driving & you don't know how it happened, it sounds like you weren't paying enough attention.

Falling when drunk is your fault for being that drunk.

Sounds harsh, use it as a learning experience in taking care of yourself. Be glad you're not dead, I know I am.

Well I must say I'm right proud of you Spaw, answering a thread about memory and not mentioning my CRS *BG*

Seriously Prew, How old are you? (it could be simple CRS if you're over forty)
Or, did you get a bang on the head? (Loss of memory following an accident is most often caused by concussion. (And if you answered NO to that then how do you know if you don't remember?)

Just a point of clarification, I think. Natasha doesn't say she fell while drunk, just that she had the scooter crash. At least it sounded to me that it was just an example, a for instance.

Sounds like there's a song in there somewhere. It's not my fault, Mother. It must have been some other. I might have been there, but { }

Natasha, OF COURSE it's your fault, lol! The Mother God is always right! (tis true, tho, that often memories of traumatic things dissapear for various reasons)

Well if you can't remember doing anything stupid then you can't really blame yourself can you? (though that doesn't stop a mother....)
I think its very honest of you to say that you don't know (it would be easy to rationalise it to yourself and just automatically blame the other party). Your best position is not accept or cast blame under these circumstances.
What does the other person say happened?
Glad you're not too badly hurt though, and I hope there aren't any repercussions (other than motherly wrath).

Kris

I had a car crash and still don't remember exactly what happened three years later... but I was alseep at the time. I have no idea how long I'd been asleep, but not very long - I hit a tree, trashed the car, and was taken to the hospital. That same horrible call for my mother :) Even the bits I remember are more like dream than memory, though. Never drive that tired. I'd only gone a few hundred yards.

Hey if Momma Duck is on your case it's only a demonstration of her love for you. Parents are like that when they see their kids hurt or in danger they always try to find out what's going on. It'll get better soon. Just for the record, when I was quite young I had a crash and didn't know what had happened, still don't and never will. Only know that my folks kept asking me for months what had happened as if in some way they might be able to stop it happening again. That's what parents do try to protect the chicks. Chin up girl!

Gee thanks Everyone But it seems as though it might not have been my fault any way. Situation goes that A van (marvin) was turning left whilt poor (julian, the scooters real name.) was skirting round a bus. Damage has only occured on the left front at the side Which means that marvin was probable turning just in front of the bus, which means on skirting round he just clipped me off balance, say if this is going over your head.

And WHY are MOTHERS always against their CHILDREN when they're involved in some thing they couldn't help being envolved in (not like I'm the one who fell out a caravan thinking it was the TOLET)

well I've got julian back and he still purrs like akitten or a very big tiger on speed.

For god's sake 'spaw don't try to understand my daughter!
1. I was not drunk when I fell out of the caravan.
2.I need to know about Tasha's accident for the insurance and also to find out if she is safe out there on that scooter!
3.I have just had to part with £70 just to get the bike back as it had been stored at a bike shop and I get grumpy when handing over large amounts of cash.
BTW she's 17!!!!:(

My mother always thought I was at fault even when I wasn't. When I was in high school some girl was bullying me, and I hadn't done anything to her, and Mom said, well, you must have done something to make her mad. Like what? Breathe?

One time I had an accident in bad weather. When I called her, the first thing she said was, who's going to pay for it? I guess she figured that if I was well enough to call her, she could skip the niceties of "are you okay?"

Now that she's retired she's much easier to get along with. Even so, I'm still having a gulp or two of Jamesons before I go to her house for supper on Monday...

Well, I know what you are going through. Way back when I got my motorcycle (1972 Triumph Trophy Trail 650 cc) I was riding it in the back field. My sister wanted a ride so I let her climb on behind. Remember this was only 20 minutes after my first ever experience with a motorcycle.

We dawdled around the field for a little while but then she yelled those famous last words, "Go faster!"

My last conscious memory of those events is twisting the throttle.

My next memory is of lying on my side with one leg pinned under the bike while I tried to find the kill switch. My sister was about 10 feet away in a pile of horse manure.

Nobody was injured beyond bruises but the bile had a bent handlebar.

Memory is a funny thing. Here today and gone tomorrow.

Did I see this posting somewhere before????

Homer's got it right - "why is it when I learn something new it pushes the old stuff out" - or is that the wrong way around?

In a few more years, Prew, you'll learn the validity of "now that i know you are alive, come here so i can kill you" It's not fair, and it's not right, but it is very human. Your mum will get over it, i promise. So glad to know that you are alright. Around here, log trucks call bikes "targets"
