Subject: RE: Help: writing is too small From: Murray MacLeod Date: 24 May 01 - 11:52 PM Well, that's just peachy, but can somebody explain why cooking instructions on frozen foods are so tiny? I mean I don't think I could have read these instructions when I was twenty years old, let alone now, when my eyesight is just starting to fail..(or maybe it isn't, it's just the daylight saving time .....) Subject: RE: Help: writing is too small From: Cluin Date: 10 Feb 05 - 03:27 AM If you're using Internet Explorer and a "scrolling wheel" mouse, hold down the CTRL button and rotate the mouse wheel to quickly ramp text size larger or smaller. |
Subject: RE: Help: writing is too small From: pixieofdoom Date: 10 Feb 05 - 04:29 AM I was just about to put up a thread with the opposite problem - the text on my screen on the home computer has suddenly become huge and I have no idea what I did. I've got this whole feeling of 'A is for Apple' going on and it;s giving me a headache! I'm hoping that Cluin's suggestion will work, will try when I get home from work. If not, has anyone got any other ideas? |
Subject: RE: Help: writing is too small From: treewind Date: 10 Feb 05 - 05:15 AM Some things to try: - The "View" menu and "Text Size" - Hold down Ctrl key and use the mouse scroll wheel - Ctrl and + or - They all work on Firefox, and the first two work on MSIE6 I can't be bothered to test every other browser.... Subject: RE: Help: writing is too small From: Bill D Date: 10 Feb 05 - 12:08 PM EVERY browser has a way to control font size. First you set the 'default' size...then you can control the magnification of that default by scrolling or clicking something...etc...( In Opera, all I do is hit + or - for a temporary change in size. ) |
Subject: RE: Help: writing is too small From: JohnInKansas Date: 10 Feb 05 - 07:01 PM In the case of font going "very large," there is the possibility that your monitor driver got lost. Most monitors will revert to a generic low-resolution setting if his happens, which makes everything "bigger." It's not a frequent thing, but not unknown. With most Plug-and-Play OSs, Win98SE & later, a cold reboot - not just a restart - will sometimes clear things up. Some recent Windows security updates have changed my browser display, especially those that include IE fixes. One recent one (today) appears even to have deleted nearly all my cookies, although it left my bank accounts and mudcat. (I'd been wondering if there was an easy way to get that done without losing them all.) John |

Subject: RE: Help: writing is too small From: Linda Goodman Zebooker Date: 11 Feb 05 - 12:32 AM How very cool! I had no idea this could be so easily controlled. I like to use quite small screens, as they work best for short people wearing bifoccals, but the print was either too small or way too big. I tried a few things that didn't work. Wow!! |
Subject: RE: Help: writing is too small From: Liz the Squeak Date: 11 Feb 05 - 03:09 AM So all these years I've just been moving my head closer to the screen and I needn't..... damn! Perhaps that will stop the ricked neck.... LTS |
