Subject: On submitting Lyrics From: Dave the Gnome Date: 24 May 01 - 10:15 AM I asked for the Lyrics of 'Peterloo' some time back and got loads of good information including a version of the song posted by Stewie - thanks ever so for that. Question is I now have a slightly different version which I have pieced together and I have added an extra verse for reason which will become apparant. Also the original posting was in a 'Lyr Req' rather that 'Lyr Add'. Do I now post the whole thing under 'Lyr Add'. Do I post the new verse with reference to the original? If so do I give that a 'Lyr Add' title? It's not in the DT yet btw. Any suggestions? Cheers DtG |

Subject: RE: Help: On submitting Lyrics From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 24 May 01 - 10:41 AM Dave, the suggestion as I understand it is to post a new message using the Lyr Add: at the head of it. That is easier for the Harvesters to catch a new or different version.
It would be nice in the original Lyr Req: thread to post a link to this new thread after you've posted it. |

Subject: RE: Help: On submitting Lyrics From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 24 May 01 - 11:19 AM My instinct would be to post in the original thread to keep things neat and easy to trace; you can change your Subject header to "ADD" etc. Bear in mind, though, that if the song was written by Harvey Kershaw, as Stewie indicated, it is still in copyright: Kershaw may indeed still be alive, but if he isn't, he didn't die very long ago. As such, we're not talking about a traditional song, so I'd be wary about representing a text other than Kershaw's as authentic; you should certainly be scrupulously precise about identifying the alterations you have made to his song. Subject: RE: Help: On submitting Lyrics From: Dave the Gnome Date: 24 May 01 - 11:36 AM Thanks George and Malcolm. I think I will add to the original as there is some good info in there. I will leave the lyrics posted by Stewie as they are, near as dammit, what I have anyway and they are clearly labeled as Harveys work. I will show the additional verse as my work and explain what it's all about and why. I am still taking your advice as well George as I will change the subject to 'Lyr Add' so the harvesters can spot it. Didn't realise I could do that till now. D'oh! Thanks again DtG |

Subject: RE: Help: On submitting Lyrics From: Joe Offer Date: 25 May 01 - 01:04 AM I think it's always better if we stick to a one song, one thread policy. Multiple threads on a single song make things confusing. If you're submitting song lyrics, please search the forum first and try to find an existing thread on the song. If you find one, post the lyrics in that thread. The fewer threads we have, the easier it is for us harvesters to find songs. Jim Dixon and I are the harvesters. If we don't mark your song with a harvesting birdie ^^ in a couple of weeks, send a personal message to one or the other of us and we'll take care of it. Thanks -Joe Offer- |

Subject: RE: Help: On submitting Lyrics From: wysiwyg Date: 02 Jun 01 - 12:15 PM Joe, do you still look for songs to harvest by searching on ADD? I posted quite a few that I think were missed. Should I go back and look, or will you? ~S~ |
