Subject: Lyr Add: GOODBYE MUIRSHEEN DURKIN From: GUEST,Nathan In Texas Date: 24 May 01 - 11:17 PM I transcribed this for someone on the Cyberpluckers list after searching and not finding it in the data base. There's a version called Molly Durkin already listed, but this one's almost completely different. I got it from a 1967 album entitled "The World Famous and Justly Popular Barney Peters." Not sure about the spelling of some of the words, particularly "Kenturking".
GOODBYE MUIRSHEEN DURKIN
Since the days I went a-courtin'
So goodbye Muirsheen Durkin, sure, I'm sick and tired of working
I've courted girls in Blarney and Kenturking in Killarney
So goodbye Muirsheen Durkin, sure, I'm sick and tired of working
Goodbye to all the boys at home, I'm sailing far across the foam
So goodbye Muirsheen Durkin, sure, I'm sick and tired of working |

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Goodbye Murs From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 25 May 01 - 08:17 AM Also this thread from two months ago, where lyrics were also posted, with links to the TWO versions already in the DT, one of which is virtually identical to the above: Lyr Add: Muirsheen Durkin As I pointed out then, the trick in this case is not to try searching for the whole title, as many people don't know how to spell it, but to try instead for a phrase from the song, or just simply DURKIN.
