Subject: Queen of the night? From: Rhiannon Fox Date: 27 May 01 - 07:50 PM Hello folks. I'm trying to get hold of the lyrics to a song I used to know when I was a child. It starts thus: Here I dream of the old grey tree Sticks o bare and woe is me The chorus is: Silks and satins does she wear Gold and diamonds in her hair She is the queen of the night so fair. I'd be so grateful for some help. Cheers! xxx |

Subject: Lyr Add: QUEEN OF THE NIGHT (Michael Raven) From: GUEST,Adolfo Date: 28 May 01 - 08:14 AM I used to sing that song, by Mike Raven, with my own folk group here in Spain. That was ages ago in a time when nobody seemed to care if the words made sense or not (very few could understand them, anyway). What WE USED TO SING was:
Here I dreamt of the old grey tree
Silks and satins does she wear
Crackles of frost in the autumn sky Silks...
She has charmed and torn my soul Silks...
Give me a shroud of tangier hue Silks... Fabulous music, a lot of choral possibilities. We used to make the last verse a capella. |
Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Queen of the night? From: GUEST,JohnB Date: 28 May 01 - 12:48 PM There is a MIke Raven Guitar book with his arrangement of it in, I have it, though I lack the technology/time/equipment to make it available to you. I am not even quite sure when I last saw it, I will look when I get home. It has been mentioned on other postings so is probably still available. Good luck, JohnB. |

Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Queen of the Night (Michael Raven) From: GUEST,haynonnyno Date: 28 Apr 22 - 04:46 PM The basis of the song is that if a mere mortal man should ever see or meet the Queen Of The Fairies, then he will never know peace again... he will be so obsessed with her beauty. |
